I ran what is an average employee that works here.. married, one child, no smoke
In general, employees who are offered insurance through work are not eligible for subsidized exchange coverage, so long as their insurance meets specified requirements. You would only be eligible for subsidized exchange coverage if your income is between 1 and 4 times the federal poverty level and you would have to pay more than 9.5% of your household income for your own coverage through the insurance offered by your employer. And as I've already posted elsewhere on this subject. The premium for that person and his family is over $1300 a month. Almost everyone that works in a normal factory or retail job will have to buy their own, rather than be in the companys group policy. Looking at the deductibles...it's clear that obamacare is nothing more than a very poor quality major medical plan. Great money maker for the insurance company, because statistically they know precisely how many claims they will see over a year.. and it's not a lot. In the last 10 years with hundreds of employees we have had 2 claims. 1 younger man had a heart bypass.. and another kidney surgery. edit: most employees know how to game the work comp system, and the doctors are always right there to *push* that whatever happened, happened at work. |

You're a fool to think that calculator is accurate

But you see it Mike a libertarian here on GFY, said my rates will be lower. My mother a RNC card member for life, I went for her annual checkup which is usually $400 and they told her because of the new law there is no charge. My cousin for the first time in years can have health ins in MN because he can afford it,he works for himself. This is why they want to stop it because its going to be clunky but it will work. |
I have a feeling results will vary for this calculator depending on what which way you lean politically -- if you know what I'm saying.

It's ignorant not wanting to be on the government dole? And here I thought it was the other way around. I guess we are backwards here in TN with our less than 1% debt ratio. BTW Her tenncare was somewhat similar to obamacare as in she had to pay every month for it so it wasn't free.. Still got booted. |

"and the death panels are bullshit you buy the insurance from the insurance company of your choice and it works just like it does now."
This is true if you have private insurance like you said. However, if one lands on Medicare then there is a so called Death Panel; ObamaCare ?death panel? faces growing opposition from Democrats thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/health-reform-implementation/316045-obamacare-cost-cutting-board-faces-growing-opposition-from-democrats#ixzz2g2NcFMvu |

1st - They don't currently exist. The panel will not be formed until medicare costs grow above a certain rate. At this time there is no way of knowing if or when these panels will be needed. 2nd - Any member of this panel will need to be approved by the Senate so the fighting will be epic. 3rd - The so called death panel isn't what it sounds like. People envision their loved ones having to appear before a group and ask them to pay for something to save their family member's life. The panel will decide on the best ways to cut spending. This could mean that they cut certain types of treatments in certain cases, but more likely it means that they will lower provider payouts across the board. Of course, none of this has been decided since there are no panels. |
Health care should not be managed by the government. Especially this fiscally irresponsible Obama administration.

How did that work out? |

I voted for Obama the first time because I felt like McCain would have been terrible, plus he is old and has been sick in the past and I didn't want him to die and leave Palin in office. I didn't vote for Obama or Romney in the last election, I vote Johnson. |
I'm 34 and in Florida. Mine seems VERY low:
Household income in 2014:3046% of poverty levelUnsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014:$2,852 Maximum % of income you have to pay for the non-tobacco premium, if eligible for a subsidy:None Amount you pay for the premium:$2,852 per year (which equals 0.81% of your household income and covers 100% of the overall premium) You could receive a government tax credit subsidy of up to:$0 (which covers 0% of the overall premium) |
$2,773 per year for my premium, which equals $231/mo. for me.
No subsidiary available because of income level. |

Its funny when people talk about death panels .Right now its not your Doctor who decides your care its the insurance company. Before your doctor does anything there is a call to the ins if they will cover it. They say no and you dont have the cash its bye bye.
|
This just in, uninsured Republicans - the Democrats wanted a single payer system. Meaning universal healthcare, and no premiums.
Insurance companies squeezed their congressmen until this was the result. This was a compromise. |

I wonder how many people will be getting a divorce to lower family incomes, if in fact it would lower health care costs?
If this health care is so fucking good, then why aren't all the filthy politicians being forced fed this shit sandwich and why isn't oslama's family on it? |

There is nothing that says you can't spend all the money you want buying the best policies out there. Now, that said, I do think that the our leaders should be given the average policy that the average american will be able to afford. All of the numbers are based on the "silver" package. So I think congress should get the silver package so they can see what it is, how it works and if it is any good. They can have an idea of what it is like to live on this and it might give them insights into how to make it better. |
