oh man - Obamacare exchange suffers critical account failures, asks everyone to change passwords

Just came across this; I am not involved so haven't confirmed, maybe some of you can

Quote:
(NaturalNews) The online Obamacare exchange system has just performed a system-wide password reset. This is a sign that a critical failure has occurred behind the scenes: either a security breach has stolen passwords, or passwords have been lost. So now everyone is being required to create a new password, reports ARS Technica.

But that's not even the worst of it: some users are being told they have to create new accounts all over again. "Individuals whose logins never made it to the site's database will have to re-register using a different username, as their previously chosen names are now stuck in authentication limbo," continues ARS Technica.

To tell you the truth, I am not familiar with the site (or the guy); I think I have heard of it before, but that's it.

I was referred to them for something else and this was their top story.

okay, thanks for the tip . . . not who I am looking for.

From same source:

Nearly half a billion dollars spent on Healthcare.gov

"According to the IT dashboard which tracks government projects, Healthcare.gov has so far cost a combined total of over $500 million.

HHS seemed confident the project would be launched on time. That's not surprising, since people who push socialist government programs tend to be delusional thinkers, not realists. The massive failure of Healthcare.gov is yet more proof that the Obama administration is utterly incompetent when it comes to deploying a complex IT infrastructure.

Planners for this system had three years to create it, and even then they can't figure out how to make it work. Far beyond mere "glitches" as Obama claimed, Healthcare.gov seems to be overrun with critical design failures, programming flaws and security problems"

This CBS report is both critical and at the end mentions that the username/password reset is perhaps a positive development caused by software updates to cure the current difficulties.

My current medical insurance is through the Federal PCIP program, not an entitlement it costs $465 a month plus deductibles, co-pays, etc. This insurance is for pre-existing medical conditions and it assumed my policy renewal from my state's federally funded PIP program. When the new policy term started July 01, 2013 to December 31, 2013 as a stopgap to when the Obamacare Federal Exchange insurance will be the only solution the startup was bumpy with the USDA Administrators of the Federal PCIP program -- since the first month is has been run much smoother.

I don't think 10 days into the start of a new program accepting applications for insurance policies to be effective in 90 days is a real crisis but just a bad publicity inconvenience and fodder for naysayers. Wait a week for the Exchange to function properly -- at least that is what I will do as I have little other choice.

No I am not.

However, the costs in the Netherlands of health care insurance are more reasonable up to certain income levels.

I guess I was excluded as my old pass works and I have no email asking to change. Last email from them was last night and unrelated.

Another example of people somehow finding the news they want to hear...

I think that depends on how you define "welfare state". The states that take more from the federal govt than they contribute are overwhelmingly GOP dominated.

IMO, both parties stink on ice, but facts are facts.

500 mil is a drop in the hat to what it costs us each day the govt is closed.

It's costing the US economy roughly 300 million a day. At two weeks the shutdown will have cost us 4.2 billion.. But of course 500 mil for Obamacare website is a big deal.. Meanwhile 4.2 bio and counting could have been avoided if the House wasn't playing party politics

500 mil to get a website up and running which includes the server backbone is something that will be productive for Americas future. Meanwhile 300 mil a day is pissed down the drain by congress for nothing..

Anyway I'm sure you will be just as upset at that 300 mil a day as you are about 500 mil that was used for a long term project.

So basically the money we lost in two days would have paid for everything and then some. Brilliant.
