I have never played one either. I am a huge fan of the es335 though and its my dream guitar at the moment, I have a couple dozen guitars and many of them were built hotrodded and/or restored by me.
As soon as I have an extra 3 grand or so lying around I will get an es335.
In general I love classic electric guitars, especially hollow and semi hollow. To my ears though the Epi's always leave something to be desired, with the exception of the old ones before they were an Asian import line for Gibson to have something cheap for students.
I do have some cheap Asian guitars that I love but in general I am rarely impressed by them.- As soon as I think up a good sig it's going here.Comment

i'm not sure if it's fair to judge an entire brand line of guitars but you could very well be right as i am new to them.
and i did have a riviera come through here that i struggled to embrace for 2 fracking weeks and just could not get it playing for me, had to send it back. it was a mi china but the fit and finish and such were pretty darn good, although i'm sure the electronics were lacking.

I have a chinese Danelectro U2 that I love, but I will need to replace the tuners before I am really happy with it. I cant trust it enough to take it to a gig now but its fun to practice on and sounds and feels great.
I also have one of these which I know is Asian, they don't tell you where its made but swear its not China. It's too inexpensive for Japan so I guess that leaves Korea and Indonesia.
I also have a couple Chinese Fender acoustics that I hate. A classical and a resonator. They both work fine but I just don't like them, not even sure why. They don't speak to me except to say "you should have spent more money if you wanted a real guitar". I bought them thinking I fix them up somehow but instead they are just sitting there.- As soon as I think up a good sig it's going here.Comment
