He has just been informed that he needs immediate surgery and the process is delicate and expensive and he needs our help with the expenses and the aftercare.

Prince is a seasoned performer that everyone knows well and every company respects highly. He has been our beloved industry for 9 years and has always set high standards for himself and all around him... he has always set aside time to help everyone even when his time was limited but he still made time to help others so we feel as an industry that we need to help one of our own. I don't know Prince personally and have not worked with him, so I'm guessing it may be related to this from 2010:

?There was an audible snapping sound,? Yahshua told AVN. She jumped up, I jumped up and blood started pouring out of my d*** like someone turned on a garden hose. It was a pretty freaky situation.?

Yahshua was rushed to Encino Medical Center, where doctors performed emergency surgery that lasted three and a half hours. He?ll begin physical therapy on Sept. 10.
Initially diagnosed as a career-ending injury because of the torn pelvic wall, Yahshua got word two days ago from the doctors that everything aligned itself back in place and that he?d be able to resume performing after at least the next 60 days.

Yahshua said that the amount of support from the community had been tremendous. He?s been receiving messages from fans and colleagues in the industry alike.
?The outpouring of concern, well-wishes and support is humbling,? Yahshua said. ?It?s easy to get lost in the job so it really meant something for people to take a moment and reach out to me. I truly, truly appreciate each and everyone for that.?

Yahshua said that his faith has helped him through this trying time along with his girlfriend by his side, Aryana Starr.

?God wouldn?t give me anything I couldn?t handle,? he said. ?And my woman? She?s a saint. I?m taking it one day at a time, and I?ll be back soon.?

Yahshua also said that West Coast Productions has stepped up financially to assist him with his medical expenses.

He should have just paid for his own health insurance like many other responsible self-employed people do. Mine's $184 per month for a popular HMO. Probably a bit more in California for a male his age range. The problem is many people in general, and especially in this business just don't think ahead.

Considering the nature of the injury, and how many scams are out there, I can see why someone would be hesitant to donate at first, but this is a legitimate medical emergency.

I'm guessing that the workers comp avenue was already explored (or may be separately pursued). Another way to look at it, is that Prince didn't sue previously (sparing others in the industry expenses, and not putting them out of business), and instead went through rehab, and was able to get back to work, and was doing fine until this latest setback.

In all honesty, he may want to look at not being talent if he is prone to this type of serious injury.

Nonetheless, I see this as an unfortunate situation in which I may be able to help a fellow industry worker out a little, and that if enough other people do, then we can make a positive difference in this person's life.

Instead of more worker's comp lawsuits (which only drives up the costs of workers comp for everyone), I would like to see a heathcare system that takes care of all people and removes the need for many lawsuits.

no offense but there seems to be a number of other causes that could use the money more than this guy. it sucks for him for sure but what about all the other poor dopes across the country who need surgery and can't pay for it?

I put my money where my mouth is too...I had spinal surgery in 2007 and even though I had insurance my part of the bill was over 2x what his obligations are...I didn't ask for and wouldn't have accepted a dime. It's my responsibility not the fans or my peers.

I paid it all off over time no problem.

If you wish to donate go ahead and god bless ya but lets be honest, it isn't anyones responsibility but his own.... I bet his car cost that much or more....

I agree with you completely that there are lots of people across the country who need surgery (and even basic medical care), who can't pay for it. What a sad commentary that is on our society.

Honestly, I don't get offended when people come up with reasons/rationalizations for not contributing to one cause or another.

However, I am very appreciative of the people who do chose to contribute out of empathy, altruism, or simply to help a colleague in need.

There are any number of good causes out there for people to contribute to. It would be a better world if universal healthcare was implemented. In the absence of this, it's up to everyone to fend for themselves, and for the rest of us to help out when and where we can.

My understanding is that after being out for a few months in 2010 following his first surgery (32 stitches), Prince recently either re-injured or suffered a similar injury, once again requiring surgery.

Amazing things that can be done with surgery these days, and cool new technologies and tools are constantly being developed.
