Should Sites Like Chaturbate have a Warning (splash) Page?

I don't know how much good a splash page does but it slightly irritates me that I can click one link and see some chick masturbating or sword swallowing.

Should adult sites be made to provide a splash page? Do they work?

What do you mean, do they work?

Sure, we should all have them if for no other reason than to pretend we care. But in reality it doesn't stop anyone wanting to look at adult content.

I believe Germany has a law that says you have to have them. I'm sure someone can chime in on that one.

I mean do they keep out (or warn sufficiently) people what don't wish to see adult content.

I consider it a time saver as my pants are usually around my ankles and right hand is lubed ready to go, so 1 click to the action works for me.

Years ago say 2002-2003 I had warning pages as that is when I started slinging smut and it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing I was trying to be responsible. Then I noticed all my SEO traffic had plummeted so I said screw the warning pages as Google traffic trumps nexcom28 being slightly irritated.

Chaturbate has one. They just don't annoy you with it every time you visit the site. You only get it once if they know who you are.

Warning pages are a warning of what is inside.
Warning pages do not keep people out.

Most warnings are done in jQuery today -- SEO is unaffected.

I picture a granny seeing one of those pages going "Hmm......shit, I better see this!"

I thought that it was a requirement from the credit card processors.
