The news is depressing these days.

Kids being slaughtered in Syria.
Kids in american slaughtering old men for no reason
shooting people for no reason.

Were we always this way? or is the easy to access news just making it more noticeable

No doubt society is degrading around the world, but the onslaught of media lets know who when someone farts and in what direction.

There's plenty of good stuff and bad stuff happening in the world, but what gets fed to us is what's relevant for manipulating public opinion and being used to justify whatever the original agenda was anyway.

I don't have an answer but I know what you're saying. Just about every day I shut down my browser at some point and think to myself, "I need to quit reading this stuff." I mean, I feel like I have an obligation to educate myself on what's going on in the world but fuck, it is depressing.

I know you are a student of history of at least a minimal capacity, this being said you should already know that there is nothing new about any of this.

We are hard coded to kill anyone or anything that is different from us or threatens us. Living in peace is a very new thing in human history and isn't very common on this planet even still. The only thing we can do is try our best not to add to it, stay away from it the best we can and never forget the threat of what people can become. Pretending it's not there is dangerous in itself.

The radiation thing is just to scare you. Its another usual control attempt at, "we know its fucked up here, but look over there."

Things are in rapid decline it is true but humans are two legged cockroaches. We always find a way to survive and make it worse. lol.

Yeah, stop reading the news or at least in high volumes. Safe to say US media is borked so skip it. You'll feel better.

All i remember from any news growing up was the middle east and central america tearing itself apart and the countdown to nuclear war with the Soviet Union and that constant fear. I really don't think much has changed other than now its not something we see at 6pm anymore from one of the only 3 tv channels that existed,... its something we are bombarded with 24hrs a day, everywhere we look and its constantly forced in our faces from facebook, to forums to countless channels, online news etc.

I think we'd all agree that the news is manipulative and always has been since its creation. Where we differ is that you have been pushing that there is an evil boogeyman using it to hurt and kill people with it. I just see it as being run like any business, making more money and giving the people what they want, which is completely different.
