The reddit community is more "fierce" about good content and self-moderation than most other communities/sites I've ever been aware of. There's no army of Manwin employees going around downvoting anything - that'd be a VERY useless thing to spend their time and resources on.

Most, if not all, adult/nsfw sub-reddits use a few reddit-bots to allow for only certain domains to be submitted. If it's not from domains on this list, you're automatically deleted/hidden. Some sub-reddits are setup to automatically send a message or display a message notifying the end user of this & some are not. The main bot used was written by actual reddit staff to help improve efficiency with moderation on sub-reddits with larger traffic.

If you want real reddit help, shoot me a skype & I'll give you some tips.

This thread's premise will fail miserably.

This couldn't be further from the truth.

As someone else mentioned, this won't be very effective without an initial surge. After 30 minutes or so, the community itself will either downvote you into oblivion or upvote naturally.

Actually, you are wrong and fairly certain you posted same thing in another thread I was asking for posters (with success btw), and I have explained the subreddit's are not /askreddit... or the ones with so much traffic you get downvoted within seconds.

And regarding Manwin, who gives a shit if I am wrong or not. Competition in the reddits you want to be in will downvote you, period. But it is like 2 or 3 downvotes. Enough to make that little number to the left of your thumb say 0.

That's the community not liking whatever you post; not "competition". There are only a few people in adult who are successfully using reddit on a large scale without any issues, because they submit content that the community wants to see. Many sub-reddits also have "fail safes" in place just for that. For example, you post a link to an awesome video on beeg.com, but it gets downvoted right away... on a couple of subreddits I moderate, we have it set that "0" still displays for x amount of time.

Reddit DEFINITELY works, but I haven't seen you post anything that hasn't been tried over and over again by adult webmasters just to see them get caught and entirely blacklisted. You will probably be shadow banned before too long. The reddit admins are very against self-promotion.

I'm not sure why you are so involved with my interests. You did it in my other reddit post backing that red headed ginger fag.

I wrote to the mod's direct at one of the biggest subreddit's for adult. Mentioned my posts were not getting listed, said exactly what I wanted to do... bam, next day, posts get listed just fine.

I, and anyone who joins me, will be just fine. We are posting exactly what reddit surfers want to see, on the subreddit's that allow it, in the format in which they want it.

It is *EXACTLY* competition who will downvote you right at the beginning.

Just wanted to quote *again* my original statement. Do you read it, make sense, why do you keep talking about gaming, and large scale.

I am talking about people spending 10 minutes per day to do something that can bring in easy US based traffic. And my goal here is too make sure those posting legit links... don't get downvoted by competition.

***I am even throttling the number of submits that we would even put on the site***

Oh yeah... the site will be populated and become something of it's own... over time, available to public to enjoy *OUR* content. Understand amigo?

LOL

I've seen lots of posts/people banned that have content the 'users want to see' because of ads. Even if those ads were small and not intrusive at all.

So where we at at this moment? Let's try already.

It bothers me because you're spreading bullshit as the gospel and your wrecklessness is going to get peoples' sites blacklisted & banned from a large social media site because you're offering delusions of grandeur & they'll lap it right up hoping to get a few more k per day.

But keep up with your bullshit. Anyone who knows anything knows that you don't know shit. I don't like that some people fall for your bullshit. One day soon you'll get banned. :thumbsup

As a general rule of thumb, if you have Exo/Juicy/PlugRush on your site, the mods will ban it right away to prevent malware. That is because there have been hundreds of separate reports of malware from sites using those.

That depends on the individual moderator, but as a whole we're mostly moving away from the general attitude of "ads = bad, content = good" for video anyways. Picture sites, either really clean galleries(think rules on thehun) or imgur.

It can never hurt to send a negative vibe towards the sites many believe are crippling the industry :thumbsup

That being said... reddit is a kinda cool site. On the appropriate reddit subs you can post your links, images, etc. And if you use it correctly... a great source of mostly US traffic.

One problem I find with reddit is that adult doesn't convert very well, as seen below.

http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/740/4316310522.png

The average redditor seems to be fairly intelligent and knows where to find free porn. Free cams and dating offers might do ok, but I haven't given them a try.

I would suggest figuring out how to acquire traffic from the non-adult subreddits.

I'm protective of reddit since I'm close with a few of the staff there & all. :winkwink:

That said, it's a gold mine if used properly. This isn't "properly". If big budget shops can't make it with their spam filters, you won't. I don't think you understand how well tuned their anti-gaming system is.

It does great for erotica/babe type stuff, but general porn, not so much.

I'm not going to bash Travesty (that much). I will speak my mind however.

This is what he does... he links to both imgur and xhamster. Xhamster he links to one of his vids which has his banner (xhamster obviously as the affiliate). Likely to use the traffic to bump his newly released xhamster upload higher and keep on home page longer.
Imgur he uploads pictures with his site name on it.

The thing is... I, and many others, are doing the same thing (minus linking to xhamster) and getting down voted to hell. We are linking to our own sites that in 1 way or another, help our cause out.

Go check out /pornvids on reddit. Read the sidebar, take notice of the mods. It's all right there in front of you to make your own decision. That subreddit allows ***NO OTHER LINKS*** accept already determined tubes... i.e. youjizz, xhamster, youporn, etc. etc.

So what he is saying is feed the monster more traffic and collect some crumbs from the dinner table... or be banned forever from such a great social networking site as reddit. It's all just a game... no matter who is playing it.

Are you mad because I wouldn't add you to the approved domains list on /r/pornvids? Keep in mind that that not only isn't up to just me, but your site wouldn't pass the bar anyway. There are some smaller sites(even ones similar in function to yours) on the approved domains list. Users just don't submit from them nearly as often for pretty obvious reasons(less reach)... unless one of the other mods removed them. I honestly don't pay that much attention.

I wouldn't recommend that you make this personal. Pretty unprofessional.

By the way, thanks for the back links. :winkwink:

As an addendum to this, our philosophy isn't to only allow those big tubes(we've added smaller, clean ones in the past and there are still a few on there), but to allow tubes that display with a good format and are clean. We've removed/banned a few of the big boys because malware was detected. This is the main reason we err on the side of caution with smaller tubes also. Before we put this into affect last year, the sub-reddit was suffering from a lot of automated spam to newly acquired tubes that also were hosting malware(whether on purpose or 'cause their broker wasn't so great). We came up with a list that is usually always "clean" to combat this and banned any domains that weren't on this list automatically.

Beeg.com is by far the most widely submitted domain & it's mostly sponsor provided content that's submitted. The sub-reddit goes through various trends. One week, Asians who love anal will be somewhat popular/more trendy while the next it's Lisa Ann. This goes on and on. Last I glanced, the current trend is GFRevenge videos that are on beeg with a sponsor link back to GFRevenge.com, but I haven't paid attention in a couple of days.

As a side note: We don't ban domains by hand. It's automatic. Us NSFW mods have a private sub-reddit where things like this are discussed. As soon as a trend of a user pops up of them submitting to the same domain(that is obviously theirs) over & over, we take a look if the spam filter hasn't already caught it. If it's a problem and the site is covered in ads/pop-ups, it's added to the bot we use. Most of the medium and large NSFW sub-reddits use this bot, so if you've only posted 10 times to one sub-reddit on your domain but you're banned on all NSFW sub-reddits, this is why. Not some conspiracy that someone made up because they have too much free time & think they're a genius. Self promotion is explicitly banned by reddit & it's also defined in their user guidelines/ToS.

You guys are free to do what you want and it's certainly not something abnormal anymore. A lot of forums and other subreddits are doing that too. But in my opinion it defeats the purpose and usefulness of reddit. The idea used to be that people could submit almost anything within reason and if it is good it gets voted up and if it sucks it gets voted down. Once you start only allowing .0000001% of the web it all becomes less useful and free.

It was to a point that 75-80% of the submissions were of a nefarious nature. That is to say, linking to a site containing malware/viruses. It's not our fault that people get greedy and we have to act in OUR users' best interest. Honestly, I wish we could have it more "free" as you've described.

So I take it your account will be banned then? Imgur photos with your watermark (self promotion), linking to tubes with your video and banner to a site you own (self promotion).

What you say, and what you do, conflict with each other.

I think you missed the "defined" part there, genius. :winkwink:

Feel free to post links to your own content (within reason). But if that's all you ever post, and it always seems to get voted down, take a good hard look in the mirror — you just might be a spammer. A widely used rule of thumb is the 9:1 ratio, i.e. only 1 out of every 10 of your submissions should be your own content.

This is why I don't respect you. You speak with your foot in your mouth way too often and you look very foolish.

Is Reddit a bit old school now for porn ? I've been tentatively playing about with it, if you post on the "porn" reddit it does invariably get down voted but I've also posted on my porn "niches" with better success, getting 10 votes pretty quick. (I don't know if that's good or bad) But it just seems a bit lame for porn, you click on a link that has one poor quality image on imgur or somewhere, then you back click ! It's all a bit 1990's compared to tumblr and pinterest sites ?
