You are better off not getting into the porn business at all.

True there is only one way to get ahead in this business now, INVEST a lot of money and build something unique that will sell. If you have no money for investment and shitall experience then its going to be a very hard slow road. If you have $100,000 to invest into a project then yes you can take on the big boys as long as your experience is good enough. Its not easy these days but there is still money to be made if your willing to invest some money to do it.

In every imaginable industry, there will always be one or more arrogant assholes who think tehy know more than everyone about that particular industry. Moreover, they think they own the industry

Of course also like in any other industry, there are also the "Mac- Donald-Type" of the industry who will welcome newbies, invest millions attracting them, training them, making them part of their team, putting thousands in the newbies pockets, all while getting millions of dollars as a result of the effort of those thousands of once newbies, that now are a productive force.

TGP (2 sites) new sales 20
Pay (3 sites) new sales 1
Traffic (1 program) ...profitable and growing.

rebills ... enough to pay my mortgage, office rent and
high speed data links in both locations.

Period 1 of the month is my profit time. Porn is just harder
to make a buck at, it's NOT DEAD. I work this split with being
a radio engineer, if you can't make enough to live off, then
you need to look at your work habits and adjust.

This AVS pays my mortgage!

One of the biggest problems I see with newbies is a complete lack site and server security. If anything is going to put the newbies out of business, that will.

This one newb posts promo vids on a pirate board where, I doubt anyone is going to buy anything from him anyway ...

Then, of course, they proceed to hack his entire site.

Really stupid, but I see this with newbies all the time. They leave their sites wide open and don't even check their stats.

I guess they finally figure it out when they get the bandwidth bills ... but, at that point, it's pretty pathetic.
