Anyone know anything about satellite internet?
i live in the fucking sticks and i can't get cable or dsl.
i know that there are some services that offer satellite internet like Direct TV and Starband, just wondering if anyone has any experience with this type of thing? I heard that the download speed is good but upload speed is not. Oh and go fuck yourself...bastards |

I looked into it....
$500 for equipment $100/month for service uploading has to be done over phonelines unless you buy more equipment (option not offered where I live)

Assume 80% efficiency: a 15 MB file would take 47 minutes to download with a 56Kbps modem and 7 minutes with DIRECWAY at 400Kbps.
... dont expect 400k...lol...it sux but its better than nothing i bought one, $1000 for equiptment, 79$ a month, the downloads were about 250-300k...uploads at 15k, in 2001

I have 2 way service with Direct Way.
I live in the fuckin sticks also..but better than fcukin dial up. Wished I could get DSL here. Not for download speeds..uploads. Downloads speeds are pretty sweet. not as sweet as DSL. But sweet. Upload speeds is the same as 56K..but if you get the 2 way service, no need for the phone line. |
