I knew I should've taken notes - gonna look for a transcript online.
I very CLEARLY heard a threat to attack America on its own soil if we attack Iraq.
Did anyone else catch it?

he had to go through 2 hours of security just go be able to interview him....god knows what they spent the 2 hours on. i doubt he'd even be able to shove a gun up his ass.

you can also bet that if he would have shot saddam, his ass would have been capped instantly too. take one for the team!

Him calling on a live debate with Bush was a great idea...

He'll surely win tons of Arab support and world support over this, especially with everyone that hates Americans and the west anyways...

Heh, if you think Bush is bad on TV, wait till you see a guy whose opinions haven't been challenged in 30 years try to debate.

Also, I have never understood why we couldnt get a "spy" in dressed as the camera man so when fuckface turban cockpolisher 2000 was all "hakkabah hakkabah we hate the usa hakkabah marakesh hakkabah", the camera man would push the special button on the camera, shooting the fucker in his goddamn face. Sure this would be a suicide run, but goddamn thats how that shit needs to be done.

Very good point. I can see him flipping out and ranting, already.

"hakkabah hakkabah", LOL

Anything is possible. A camera with a built-in gun or maybe designed to deliver an incredible electric shock... would have been interesting.

I don't think there's any country out there that wouldn't launch a counterattack if a foreign country invaded them. A lot of people keep thinking this will be like desert storm where they only know about the war from what CNN tells them....I'm certain it will be a lot closer to home than most people realize.

north korea hates the us more than iraq, they even have nukes right now that can reach the US. but the US wants to handle that diplomatically. what the fuck is going on. i think its just another government brainwashing technique covering up the wild west's agenda to control the middle eastern oil industry.

i hope bush doesnt get us all killed.

why the hell hasn't osama bin laden been found and killed?

Certainly did, in a direct fashion (talking about IF, what would WE do - but I think you can interpret this different ways):

Translator For Saddam Hussein: The officials of the United States have themselves spoken about their intentions to commit aggression against Iraq. Isn't it part of our responsibility and our actions and our morality and, in fact, the basic meanings of faith that we should say to the aggressor that once you commit aggression against us, we are not going to succumb. And if we were to reverse the question and ask any American, any American citizens, any good, honest American citizen in his own country, including Mr. Rather himself, and we say to him, in any subsequent period or state, if another power, another force were to come across the Atlantic to commit a great aggression against the United States, will you do nothing?

Translator For Saddam Hussein: Let me answer.

Translator For Saddam Hussein: I say to the honest Americans that if such a thing happens, do not capitulate, do not give in. You have to defend your country, defend your family and your honor. Do not commit aggression against us. And, as you know, we have not committed any aggression against the United States. The United States intelligence (UNINITEL) against our country, our people, our children.

Saddam: "Even if such a power, however strong as you describe it, even if this power is multiplied by whatever amount or size more than it is now, then we will continue to defend ourselves, to fight such a power if they attack because defeat comes only from God Almighty."

Or from a 500 lb bomb on every major establishment (communications, entertainment, military - whatever it may be) in Iraq.

This guy keeps sounding worse and worse as I read on: "In 1991 Iraq was not defeated. In fact, our Army withdrew from Kuwait according to a decision taken by us. Yes, it withdrew and -But when we were back within our boundaries, the boundaries of Iraq, the Iraqi Army was not defeated. Nor was the people of Iraq."

So with a complete sucess of removing Iraqi forces from Kuwait (taking out a huge number on the way out...until we finally backed off), major destruction done to the Iraqi infrastructure (until we backed off), the Iraqi Army was not defeated? I guess we should have gone against world views of "massacres" and taken out absolutely everything Iraq possed, including it's military personel?

EDIT: Haha, well said Dan Rather (this man has balls for bringing this stuff up on hostile territory): Rather: Mr. President, respectfully, a lot of Americans are going to hear that and say, what is this man talking about, as all of those Iraqi tanks coming out of Kuwait with the turrets knocked out indicated a beaten army on the battlefield. There's no joy in my saying that. But the point is I'm asking you to explain what you mean that you were not defeated in the - war, because I can report to you with accuracy that, overwhelmingly, the American people believe that that was a resounding defeat for you and for Iraq.

Before anyone meets Saddam they get a full body scan, then a full strip search, then have to wash their hands in a series of disenfectent solutions. All the clothes they are wearing go through an object scan device and a chemical testing device. Supposedly they irradiate the clothes also just in case there are any planted live bio germs in the fabric.

He's paranoid to the max.

Saddam: Translator For Saddam Hussein: And the tanks that fought us around Basra, near Basra were defeated. And this is confirmed in writing that have been published by military people.

Translator For Saddam Hussein: And then we had - Then we had the statement made by Mr. Bush, the statement about which he didn't consult -- he hadn't consulted any of his allies, the coalition involved in the fighting -- that the fighting, that the war had achieved it's objective and that he was now stopping it.

Yes buddy, we pulled out because your entire Army engaged a small portion of ours in Barsa, so we chose to retreat instead of fighting a lopsided battle. With that "overwelming defeat" we decided we'd be best off not to fuck with your amazing Army...is this guy kidding? He honestly believes that the Iraqi Army wasn't defeated, and was completely in control.

Another indirect statement about attacks on US soil:
Rather: Mr. President, Vice President Cheney, Vice President Richard Cheney of the United States says that if and when an American-led Army comes into Iraq, it will be greeted with music. It will be treated as a Army of liberation. If Americans are not to believe that, why should they not believe that?

Translator For Saddam Hussein: I - I believe it is not-- acceptable for any official or-- politician, to say such a thing. Because when he says it, morally speaking, he is in fact telling his own people that they should be prepared one-- when it comes. To greet-- occupying armies with music. But all Iraqis will, as they do, welcome all Americans. That is why now you are here, you see that you're being welcomed. Even though you come from a company that is threatening to attack Iraq. Does he really not know about the newest resolutions? Is he oblivious to everything that goes on around him? Apparently so if he's kept the same political standpoint for 30 years...

Translator For Saddam Hussein: And have come.. So, what do they want to issue new resolutions about now?

Rather: So basically, no change in your position.

is it just me or does anyone else question US attitude towards North Korea when they a) have nukes b) have nukes that can reach the US c) tell the US they are not stopping their nuke program and that they hate us.

Iraq isnt oosing an immediate threat to the US, didnt pose a threat during the Gulf War and doesnt have the capability too hit us at home.

i am against war. the UN and many other nations are trying to resolve this conflict peacefully. If the US still decides to wipe out Iraq without approval, it will piss alot of people off. there will be alot more terrorism for sure. i doubt that sadam will hesitate to engage in bio and chemical warfare against our troops. hope it dont happen though.

so fuck you horns, go fight in iraq you fuckin pussy

was using a book my brother was reading as a mousepad "Artful Persuasion".. it fell open on this page talking about the '91 Gulf war

"Saddam Hussein: the new Hitler,
President Bush latched onto the Hitler label...the success of the Hitler label allowed Bush to turn what was a complex crisis into a simple fight between good and evil. President Bush told Congress, "I have resolve all moral questions in my mind: this is black versus white, good versus evil"

It's amazing how many people fall for the old "this is good versus evil" but they did in 91 and they have again in '03

Sorry to burst your bubble, but how hypocritical is that. If your country is attacked it's perfectly reasonable to threaten to attack back.

It was crystal clear what he meant. Occupying forces will not be welcome, if you come to Iraq in peace you will be welcomed.
