Heading to New Orleans in April... Who can help?

My brother and his girlfriend are attending a wedding in the Big Easy in April. I have invited myself along and told him he could drop me off on Burbon Street when we arrive on Firday and pick me up on the way out of town on Sunday.

What shold I do? Where do I go? What should I avoid?

Who lives there? Anyone want to get together? Fletch where are the hot spots?

Depends on what you are looking for.

Personally i like 24 hour pubs with misfits on the jukebox, there a ton of cool places, depends what ya want though.

I am open for anything really... I love to go to new places and try new things however I like to travel with someone when I get out of my element which is pretty mainstream but I will try anything once.

bourbon is one huge party regardless what month you come, grab a daiquiri, cruise up and down the street a few times, check out the bars/clubs/naked chicks im sure you won't have any trouble finding a dozen places you'd enjoy gettin schwerved at. House of Blues is a good spot to hit too. French Market during the day you can find some good shit as well.

nola is a very dangerous city, yeah you should have an escort, especially for the areas id recommend.

its a bit of a complicated little place, especially downtown (french market area) and up towards Canal (House Of Blues) - there are some cool 'college type' white boy bars that you could get your rave'karaoke on up near the Saint Charles meets North Carollton area. Any cab driver will know these, or you could go down more towards 'Elysian Fields' and 'Decatur and hit some very weird gothic industrial scum strips with everything from live bondage to naked goth girls drunk hanging from balconies, but its very very weird, ask to go to 'Checkpoint Charlies' its on the corner, straight up irish rock n roll bar. Near there is the 'Dragon Den', a cool asian style punk club, very dark very small, id be surprised if you find any of these.

most locals dont even know they exist. its hard to give directions, there simply dark alleyway bars. misfits vampire pubs, all 24 hours. try to get to the 'shimsham' club its cool.

You should check and see if your weekend coincides with JazzFest -- MY favorite time of the year in town -- it's NOT in the quarter so you don't get that never been cleaned toilet smell around you either.

Famous Door is pretty cool, there are a few other places in that general vicinity as well...
