showtime... not hbo.
But ya, it's pretty fricken good so far except for Trixie the whore from Deadwood trying to be Carmela Soprano.
It shows on HBO/MovieCentral here where I am. But yes, I see it's a showtime production.
Yes, her character definitely does smack of her trying to be Carmela Soprano much of the time.
Well, except for this week's episode where she spontaneously decides to steel a $3000 pair of boots from a shop. Carmela would have rather shat in public than pull a stunt like that.
I don't have HBO, so fuck 'em. I waited until until Sporanos had run it's course and then watched it start to finish over a one month period. I can wait.

I have missed the last couple of episodes, but have the recorded. I have really liked what I have seen so far. It is an interesting show with some great performances.
Great show so far, Liev Schreiber is so raw and foreboding as Ray (sure wouldn't mess with him). Jon Voight is awesome as mentioned. Can't wait to see where it goes.
Magic City has got to be expensive to produce, being set in the 60's -- or is it 50's? Either way, the sets, wardrobe, hair styling, vehicles...it has to be pricey for such a small show.
It's got some of the finest looking girls I've ever seen in a TV show.

It was set in 1959. I really liked Magic City too, especially being produced here in South Florida. It didn't get a lot of traction and viewership however and season two ended in multiple cliffhangers that will never get resolved unfortunately.

Wonder if another network like HBO, Showtime or even AEE might pick something like this up? The show did get nominated for a Golden Globe.
Love the show I've been hooked since its been on. Had somewhat of a slow start but each episode kept me wanting more and more. I just cant seem to get enough now

Only series worth watching on TV right now. Hoping HBO gets their shit together soon!
Idealy I'd like to see HBO put together another really great series but have it run longer than just a measly 10 or 12 episodes per year. Half the time you've all but forgotten about a series no matter how good it is when you only see it for a few months and then a year goes by before you get another taste.
But it most likely won't happen so I won't hold my breath.

Pretty much every drama series of this nature has a "bit of a slow start", mostly because they have to introduce the characters and establish plotlines etc. But I could see almost immediately in the first two episodes that I was going to like this one.
I love Shreiber's line in that last episode, while on his car phone to a client -

Yeah, that kid may have sealed his fate when he pushed Ray's daughter's head down trying to get her to give him head. His reaction when she said no is grounds enough for any dad putting his entitled wannabe hoodrapper ass through a wall several times.
Ray needs to bury the little puke, but he probably won't because his daughter is being all stupidly defensive of him, which is typical of a lot of young females who think every badass punk they meet is a "nice guy".
