surfers are just getting smarter which will amke it harder to sell. you cant keep fooling them with flashy sites that all look the same made only to convert and with no attention to member satisfaction. im doing very well, but its all about choosing the right sites to promote. i have a rule, if i join it , im happy with the service and happy with the content then i'll promote it. :2 cents:

At the moment there are few big porno companies coming in and doing it well. But once the news get\'s around that Score, Hustler, Private, etc. are cleaning up it will get harder for the amatuer to get in or the guys who do 50 cookie cutter sites with $1,000 worth of content.

[Labret] is right the market is changing and unless you really have something to offer, I would be looking at really thinking hard on your future.

The days of slinging mud at the wall are coming to an end. :thumbsup

But the Golden Age of the Adult Internet is still to come. :)

Quality is a Good Factor..

There are alot of Quality Sites Out there now a Few Really good ones that i am noticing.

Lightspeed ---- Always finding cute Girls that convert.
SweetCuties ---- I personally think his concept is good and quality is excelent.

Exploitedblackteens.com --- Good Quality and a Decent site

Quality sells better to the established porn subscriber.
Newbies go for what they can get cheap. Like the Sites that advertise Free. But then they will eventually realize they should just pay the membership .

Another Thing TGPS Should not Require Top Quality Pics to be Displayed Free they should use Pics that are in the middle you just want to get the surfer interested

An excellent point. I would like to expand upon it, but i'm pretty drunk right now. I'd bet a good percentage of.. say,, quiets TGP traffic joins.. come from guys who've joined 2-3 paysites before and have been dissapointed. They retain because they've finally foud what they've been looking for.. someone whose site lives up to its promises.

This Is very True Webmasters will need to Establish themselves with a strong foundation .

But im sure there will be new people still comming in and with even newer and Innovative ideas but there is always room for more in the industry but you cant always do the same thing everyone is doing

MarkTiarra 02-28-2003 01:06 AM

IMHO - the industry isn't dying, it's dying for people who want to make a quick buck and do things like:

- build a paysite that has barely anything for content and thus is something no consumer should pay for - especially when the tour promises way more than is in there.

- be misleading with their sign up terms.

- don't stay on top of customer service.

The shit part is alot of good people trying to run an honest business are going to suffer for all the above types for awhile but at the end of the day the biz will shake out the crap because the "powers that be" are forcing it to be so.

The only "end of the world" scenario I see is the end of the days when people can try to build a paysite with a thousand bucks.

If you are a Marketer and Creative you're fine, no matter what the industry no matter what the conditions.

LA Mike 02-28-2003 01:19 AM

I have been doing this for around 6 years now and when I got into it there was only 2 or 3 webmaster programs. ynot was the only resource and everyone was saying the industry was going to die then.

Every year I hear the same thing about the industry dying and people quiting while I continue to watch my company grow and many friends and other companies make tons.

Porn isnt going anywhere. It may change with the times but its going nowwhere! We cant help it.. We all love sex and its mysteries and its in our nature to be attracted to whatever we are attracted to.

We just have to change with the times and adjust with new billing features and stratagies. We may have to even except only cash at some point but hey. There will always be a way!

Silvercash is doing record numbers for sales. Our ratios are great!

Keep up with the evolution!

SC version3 Coming soon!

Porn will always be here and those that can sell it will prosper. I have about 4 thousand free/avs sites and tons of tgp galleries I have made through the years. I know people who have at least ten times more. Starting out today building galleries and or free sites and think you are going to get rich or even make a half ass living has got to be getting nearly impossible. Unless you have big dollars and a brand new concept porn is not the right business to be in.

To all you veterans are you doing any diversifying? I have had some promising non-adult things begin to take off. I did figure out the only way you will do even half ass in non-adult is to do
everything yourself. From warehousing to running the site. Are any of you spreading out?

Oh yea This is important I am Involved in a Non Adult Venture it is a Service Geared to the Business World in order to save Small Companys Money and Provide them with what they need

I use to Make 20k a year with Just galleries Now i make about 10k and avs is even less now too. You really have to be Dedicated to it to get anywhere make sure you post one gallery and day and always post it to the search engines. And do 1-2 avs sites a day and you will be good to go to make about 15k a year

Guys relax, understand that many people feel we are the brink of Apocalyptic war, think about it, when you put that in perspective of course your signups will hurt..

models 02-28-2003 11:43 AM

it's a left brain, right brain thing.

traditionally, the adult web business has been dominated by computer nerds and techno geeks---and the pure programmer type sites with cookie-cutter content are foundering, and will continue to founder.

now, the more sophisticated surfer will respond to quality and aesthetic, and a proper psychological sell.

very unique and beautiful high quality content will always sell well.

and, it will be artists that produce that content, not techno geeks.

the geeks will run the infrastructure that delivers the content.

the business is just evolving, traffic is generally increasing, some sites will convert and some won't.

but, new, unique original content does convert.

the adult web is content weak now, the novelty is off, and that is why many webmasters are suffering.

gothweb 02-28-2003 11:47 AM

My sales are up this year. Of course, they were never high...

Well stated Mike. Things are kicking ass for us at YNOT as well, regardless of the fact that dozens if not hundreds of resource sites (and sites that claim to be resource sites) have popped up since the days when YNOT was the only resource online for adult webmasters.
