Refresh my memory and let's see for ourselves. :)

I remember a lot of those issues from the late 1960's through the 1970's and thinking back on them...I ain't so sure about that.

Nice backgrounds, great makeup, lot of hand done airbrushing. But honestly...if you think about it...you can go into any club here in Vegas and find girls that are hotter.

But finding a girl who will take a DP? That's a trickier proposition. :1orglaugh

EDIT: I just randomly googled in "Playboy playmate 1970" and hit images. I think that when you do that the rose colored glasses of nostalgia will clear away and you'll realize that yeah...they were good looking. But not as hot as we all THINK we remember them being.

I saw your post. But you misquoted me. I responded in it with the truth. :)

Funny you say that. Just two days ago I was talking to my wife and brought up if the Playboy mansion means anything to the younger generation these days. My guess is less and less. You don't hear about him or the mansion anymore. I hardly ever see the brand. They had a good resurgence 4 or 5 years ago but have dwindled away quickly in the last few imo.

They need to hire you and I to run the show Mutt :thumbsup

I saw an interview with Hef's kid today on TMZ. He was like, yeah, party, yawn, so what, I gotta booger, leave me alone... If he's bored with it and cant even fake it for fabian, i mean hef...fuck, man. :upsidedow

Quality has certainly dropped for sure because its about squeezing money out of once great brands. No longer about the brands...

PlayboyPlus.com isn't = to Playboy (the company/magazine) - 2 different things, different management

nope - what sometimes happened is that girls who shot for Playboy AFTER their Playboy shoot found their way to the adult industry before Playboy got their content online. the one i remember is the Digital Playground contract star, hispanic girl whose name i forget.

not really, if anything it would be a shoot prior to the playboy contract which is inked well before publication.
dont forget playboy gives the centerfolds a year contract where they could not legally shoot for any other publication.
and it was not a lot of money (the contract), but it was a building block to become a media/celebrity personality.

I think so as well. It may not be what it once was but as pointed out in one of the comments this guy is at the Playboy mansion and half of his published pictures are of the bathroom!

He was pissed that there were no homo playmates, if there were, I am sure article would have been a bit more positive :1orglaugh

Was thinking about this today. The author is doing an article for Vice Online. Vice TV's producer and major backer is Bill Maher. Bill Maher used to love to hang out at the mansion and hang with the Playboy girls. I wonder what Bill Maher would think of the article.

Times have changed a lot. Playboy as a brand is like "Brim" remember Brim? "Fill it to the rim, with brim" it was a decaf coffee. It was on 20/20 about how there are brands that are dead but still globally recognized. Playboy is such a brand. The thing is, now you have the girl next door blowing her dog on hunter moores timeline, for free. It's a tough sell for playboy. And as far as the mansion, with all do respect, the homo is right.

Yep. Playboy probably makes more off jeans and perfume than anything else these days.

To the folks who grew up with Playboy, when it was the first, the biggest, and only porn publication, its fall from grace may be sad. For the rest of us, it's a recognizable brand, without any allure. Times change, tastes change, technologies change, competition grows. Playboy has a solid place in history, in museums, and in documentaries. It'll live on in social consciousness like Marilyn Monroe who seems like she's still alive, even for those of us who were born years after her death, thanks to media's romanticizing of the past.

edit: 50 playboy flashbacks
