    Picture file size shrinker?

What is the best software to shrink the file size of a picture? I don't want the pictures to lose too much of the image quality though.

You can set up a macro to do this in Photoshop, I don't know the steps off hand but have done it this way before, there is probably even a simpler program out there by now hehe, perhaps do a google, good luck

          http://sourceforge.net/projects/jpegoptim/

Lightning fast command line tool (windows + linux), can do folder wide batches, allows stripping of exif, etc. and you can set a maximum quality, e.g. if you want all information stripped and a maximum quality of 95 you can just execute:

          jpegoptim --strip-all --max=95 "D:\folder\*.jpg"

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

Can fotosizer shrink the files sizes of a large batch of images while at the same time keeping all of their heights/widths the same?

                    Shot answer: Yes

Long Answer: It can optimize the quality of the image, by adjusting the quality to a web-quality setting, resulting in a lower file-size

If you have a very high quality image, it can save a lot of space. But it the image is already of a low/middle quality, there is little it can compress/optimize

I use Caesium - Rookie, I cant post the URL - And it is awesome. You can remove, or edit all of the file data as well within the batch.

This is a question for all of the users of the software mentioned here. What percent of the file size can be shrunk using it?

IMO you don't want to compress more than 30% of the original photo for web. Anything more and the image starts to show bad artifacts.

For print I only compress 10% at most.

Any image program should be able to save a compressed jpg and give you the option for that compression.

                            Thanks.

When you output a batch of images will it also keep the same file names or will it modify them somehow?
