Choking back tears and speaking on condition of anonymity she told LVDA, "The officer grabbed me, I removed his hand and told him 'No,' but he wouldn't leave me alone. Then he informed me I was being charged with a misdemeanor. I'd never even gotten a speeding ticket before this. If someone like me can get into trouble, it can happen to anyone. My customer vowed never to return to Las Vegas." Following the conversation, Las Vegas Dancers Alliance immediately contacted the District Attorney's office and asked them to investigate. Commenting on the raid, Andrea Hackett, President/Secretary-Treasurer of the Las Vegas Dancers Alliance said, "At a time of heightened security, at a time when the budget axe is falling on every social service, at a time when ever police officer in the valley is needed to fight real crime, METRO Police are wasting tax dollars terrifying women and driving visitors away from Las Vegas. Thanks to Yvonne Atkinson- Gates we now have an ordinance that gives police the power to charge dancers and their customers for the most innocent and casual contact. How long will it be before the vacationing public decides to take their dollars somewhere else?" Las Vegas Dancers Alliance plans to file an initiative on March 18th to repeal the lap dance ordinance in Clark County.
