I don't think we'll find many that are intrested in the physical well-being of webmasters. LOL.

I'll make some simple website after participants have been decided.

Quitting smoking would help drastically with that tiredness problem. Take vitamins, and exercise. You would be AMAZED at how revitalized you feel after a good workout. You think you'll be tired out but you end up with MORE energy.

Then again for me, I have to do a lot of physical activity every day so it's normal for me. MOving firewood, chopping firewood, etc etc, all the stuff that comes with living in the country :)

Push past it. If you're tired, it's because your body isn't supposed to be carrying around the extra weight.

The way to lose weight is to make your health more important than your lack of energy. Believe me, once you start working out, and burning it off, you will quickly start to feel better, and start to have more energy.

Well first off a healthy webmaster is a webmaster who lives longer. Thats means more years to drive traffic to their site, more years to buy hosting. lol

To the guy who said about Atkins it rocks we have been doing it for a few weeks now and I have lost 30 lbs so far.My wife has to lose slower because if she loses too fast we are out of business lol. Another good atkins site www.atkinsfriends.com . Also if someone wants to put up a site I got the domain www.heavy2health.com

I can make the website. But I don't think anyone participating on the competition should be handling the entries. (this case... entries=100$ fee). When the 100$ is paid, he or she is part of the competition, and I'll add him to the website.

is this ok? I can also do weekly/monthly updates if people want...

What should the webpage include?

Who's handling the fees?

I think cash. More motivation.

Depends on how many participants we get.. 100$-500$?
If we get plenty of participants the 500$ might be a bit too much for someone, although it would be sweet to win like $5k. :)

If it's a money bet, should there be a start-up fee? like 100$ from everyone that participates. If they quit, no refund.

I can eat more than $500 in one sitting.......

The Porn Dude 02-27-2003 01:17 PM

If I had the spare coin I would be in. Bu tlet me ask does someone know of a good site where you can find out how many calories there are in your meals?

Keev 02-27-2003 01:22 PM

I am down,.... need to drop some and get back in shape for beach vball season this summer.

Any sponsors want to get in on the idea....

there are loads of sites that have tons of nutritional info, -- just do a google search and find which you like best.

Over the past year or so I have been trying to find inspiration...and there are lots of sites with strategies and success stories...

I started counting my calories and writing down what I eat and have found this to be very helpful. I sometimes find myself doing a google search to find out hgow many calories are in a cantelope...when I start adding up what I ate that day.

Well I too have some weight to lose and this sounds like fun. But as to the Atkins Diet, terrible idea, sure you burn off the fat quick but with risk of damaging your body. I know, I used to be a trainer. Before anyone tries it or for those who are doing it, check out this article Risks of the Atkins Diet

There is just no logic in cutting out all carbs your body needs just to lose weight at a phenomenal rate. Most all quick weight loss is unhealthy and when you reach your goal and stop the diet, you are much more likely to gain that weight back just as fast plus extra.

Just wanted to give you guys some info, I'd like to see us all get healthy and fit but not at the risk causing possible damage.

You can count me in.

LunaC 02-27-2003 01:31 PM

I am planning to lose 20 lbs over the next couple of months, in addition to the 7 lbs I lost during Feb. but it sounds like 20 lbs won't be enough for me to compete against you crazy people.

I wish I could get in on a contest like this, sounds like wonderful motivation, but I'm afraid this is going to be too much for me.

Maybe we need a more modest version for those of us who want to lose a little less... or "leagues" you can compete in, based on how much you weight initially and/or how much you plan to lose.

Too complicated. Isn't the percentage of lost weight since initial weight on March 1st, until july 1st good?

detoxed 02-27-2003 01:34 PM

The problem I see here is... PROOF!

Yeah guys, I just lost 100 pounds in 3 days, wheres my money?

A picture/videoclip of you standing on a scale, before and after.
There's enough photoshop wizards here to see the difference.

That's why I say $100 to enter...I trust TDF, TGF, Lane, Lady Mischief and loads of others on this thread to be honest...now as for that sleazydream guy don't know about him :winkwink:

Obviously you don't know about the Atkins way of life. You DO eat carbs...healthy carbs...green vegetables...low glycemic carbs. In the weight loss stage you eat anywhere from 20-50 grams of carbs a day. During the maintenance stage you can eat as many healthy low glycemic carbs as you want to without gaining weight. I do agree with you that when you stop dieting you are likely to gain back any weight that you lost. But as stated in the books Atkins has out, this is not a diet...it is meant to be a way of life. Go to www.atkinsfriends.com if you really want to learn about it.

We need someone to take care of the bets (hold the money).
Which leads to the list of participants, and I can then make the small website with rules and crap.

How about a moderator of this board like Boneprone, or even Lensman...I doubt lensman would need to skim an extra $1-$2K from anyone :thumbsup

Rip 02-27-2003 01:45 PM

I was almost 230 at one point, went down to 175, and seem to be sticking at 178-183 for the past 7-8 months

I am pretty fit so I look a lot thinner than the scales say, but I think loosing another 10lbs might be reasonable

If the website I'm about to do has even monthly updates (with pictures) it can't be really done. PPL will notice if you suddenly lose a lot of weight instantly... I think.

Brujah 02-27-2003 01:54 PM

I'll hold the money.

The way that I got started was to look at my bad (food) habits one at a time... starting with my worst addiction -chocolate bars- so I went cold turkey on those for about a month, and then took on the other bad habits, junk food stops, fast food etc etc

since I was drinking a lot of diet pop, One of the other things I found out that many of them contain a sodium based chemical that actually makes you hungrier, so I trashed that and got a water dispenser from costco and the 5 gal water jugs
