Free TGP Generation Software right Here

I'm building a TGP page generator and I will release it as Freeware as soon as it is finished.

This project is mainly for practice in I/O opperations in .NET and it is very solid so far.

I just want some ideas.

Right now it does the following:

You point the program to a content path. A CD perhaps with 300 images in a folder. The program will copy the images, renames the images, convert the names to lowercase and create a new folder for every * images. So if you have 300 images and you want 30 images per folder the program will generate 10 folders and give the images all new names.

So the folders would look like:

newname01
newname02
newname03
Etc.

The images would be named the same way for each folder.
newname01.jpg
newname02.jpg
newname03.jpg
Etc.

The program also creates the thumbnails (With awesome compression!)

The program can also create the html table, I just have to add the options to allow customization.

Basically all you have to do is supply the template. The program does the rest.

Would you guys be interested in something like this?

Any ideas on how I can expand it or make it more user friendly?

I will be looking for beta testers if anyone is interested.

Any thoughts are appreciated and remember...I am not selling this...I will be releasing this for Free.

Oh, it also records all sites created in a Database.

For what?

I mean what type of categories?

When you choose a niche, it inserts a record like so:

SiteURL would be = http://yourdomain/NICHE/FolderName
Niche = The chosen Niche

Count me in. I've been using a web based solution (see my sig) for the thumbs and templates. Had great results so far. I'd love to give this a shot and suggest maybe you take a look at this other one and see if maybe there's anything you can put into yours.

I have like 35 Niches so far, but I am thinking If I should just bind the control to a database table and allow the user to dynamically add/edit niches.

Looks good so far, I'm definitely interested. Just make sure it has customizable html template functionality. That seems to be a feature lacking in most of the similar programs. Throwing in the standard 4x4 or 3x5 templates with recip and sponsor tables would be nice also.

For your 100th post I'll send you a t-shirt...

Email your address and size to [email protected]

and I'd like to test out your script...

I'm also looking for a script to build recips/mirrors from a db of tgp's, add the appropriate buttons, and then spit out a submission tool...if your script can do all that in one I'll donate $75 to your cause...

Well, I let the user build their own template, but the Thumbnail table generation is what I need to customize...but are you saying I should make some basic templates for the user to use?

What do you mean by:

4x4 or 3x5 templates

Thanks for the input.

I'm not sure I understand what you need, but whatever it is can be done.

I will drop you an email.

Thanks!

You said you were using .NET to do it right?? is it VB.NET or VC++.NET?? I tried VC++ but never tried VB.NET heard it was a lot different tough (than VB6 for example)...! This one is in VB6...Might try to recode it in VC++ just for the fun of it.. ;)
BTW shoot me a msg on ICQ if you want...!

Hi,

Do you mean C#?

Visual Basic.NET is a lot different than VB 6. Its a Full OO language now will all the power of C#.

Both languages access the CLR (Common Language Runtime) so they basically can do the same exact things. It's mainly coding preferences.

C# is like Java syntax (brackets)
VB.NET has the same syntax structure as VB6.

Anyway, I will be in touch!

Looks cool.

I'd suggest making the Niche List customizable for each individual. You can have a default list too.

Cheers,
Matt

It would be nice if it could separate vertical and horizontal pictures into separate folders.

Anybody know of software that builds the galleries and the mirrors and spits out a submission tool based on a db of tgp's you want to submit to?
