That is one of the things I noticed when visiting black homes. Between that and the pets trying to run away from home. How about the pliers on top of the television set next to the rabbit ears. Those were the days huh :1orglaugh

grease in a can is a black thing? :1orglaugh We always had grease in a coffee can on the stove when I was growing up. Better than pouring the grease down the drain into the septic tank :thumbsup

Yep, had those also.

I live right in the center of the USA, guess it depends on where you live.
I also should say I was raised on a farm, and honestly liked the fact that bacon grease was used to flavor some other items...

Captain Kawaii 07-25-2013 10:52 AM

Its been leaked before, the show is rigged. The rest is all Jerry Springer.

That aside, I think if someone has an arrest record they have to understand it will be used for/against them on the way up the ladder if they seek fame.

These sorts of lawsuits are nothing more than opportunity grasping for air and trying to knock that door down anyway possible. The brand of all the Cowell properties is at stake. Anyone think he will bow his head and say sorry and write a check?

Why should it be? There should be no record of arrests that didn't result in convictions :2 cents:

RebelR 07-25-2013 03:52 PM

It's amazing the number if people that enter the public eye, be it reality TV, politics or any other platform, who don't think that the skeletons in their closets, will be discovered. What did they think would happen? Sure you could make it so far without incident, but at some point, you are going to be thoroughly vetted.

Like Wiener boy in NYC this month. He's still sexting and playing with his cock on line and thinks it should not be a problem to be elected mayor. :1orglaugh

But Ireland sounds like more fun. And I like red heads.

Do the contestants sign paperwork allowing for background and criminal history checks? I also recall hearing something about contestants having to live up to "American Idol" standards which includes both current and past activities. Being arrested (even without conviction) was a violation of those standards which could result in the contestant being disqualified. But hey, who reads the entire contract before signing it.

'American Idol' racist? Alum Jermaine Jones bashes claims:
http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethe...es-claims.html

Though 10 former "American Idol" contestants who are African-American are trying to sue the show for $25 million, minimum, a piece, Season 11 finalist Jermaine Jones doesn't think they're going to get very far. In a new interview, he calls the former contestants' attempts to justify "Idol's" alleged racism "ludicrous."

"I think they are going a little overboard," he tells The Hollywood Reporter. "Some of these cases are over 10 years old. What have you been doing since the show that you feel you deserve $25 million?"

The lawsuit alleges that the producers of the hit FOX reality show are conducting a "cruel and inhumane plot" that dredges up old arrest information to make the African-American contestants look like "violent criminals, liars and sexual deviants." Those involved in the case are Corey Clark (Season 2), Jaered Andrews (Season 2), Jacob John Smalley (Season 2), Donnie Williams (Season 3), Terrell Brittenum (Season 5), Derrell Brittenum (Season 5), Thomas Daniels (Season 6), Akron Watson (Season 6), Ju'Not Joyner (Season 8) and Chris Golightly (Season 9).

The case should also apply to Jones. He was disqualified in Season 11 after former producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick discovered he had outstanding warrants. Though the group of contestants who are suing tried to subpoena him into testifying, THR reports Jones' attitude was "it's all water under the bridge."

"God don't like ugly," he tells the site. "You can't win when you are ugly." He thinks the proper course of action for these contestants is to take advantage of getting access to "Idol" and use that platform to boost their own careers. "I am grateful for the exposure, the good and the bad," he says. Up next, Jones plans to audition for "The Voice."

This guy may be taking the better route.

Unless of course the others do get their huge paydays, in which case he'll likely wish he'd jumped on board.

I would imagine so. AI has struck me as a lot of things, not all of which are positive, but one thing I've never sensed from the producers is a lax attitude towards preserving the integrity of the brand.

The Porn Nerd 07-27-2013 10:17 AM

American Idol only wants white people who SOUND black, not black singers who sound black.
C'mon people, get with the program!
