I would agree even though these days I am not as big on west coast style of hop forwardness - just like I started to dislike the oakiness of west coast chardonnays, my taste buds change gears every few years.

I really cut my teeth on the craft beer scene when I was touring the US; we never had anything going on in LA. I pretty much had to ride down to Stone in Escondido if I wanted a microbrewery. The last 1.5 years I have been home more and luckily, the LA craft beer scene is blowing up around here. While I used to have to ride 125 miles to get to Stone, I have a two GABF winners withing 15 miles of me and probably a dozen breweries within that radius. The point is, my tastes were changing lately.

In June goodgirl sent me a bunch of Three Floyd's and I was brought back to my roots so to speak. I was reminded what could be done with the right malts and yeasts. It was nice. That being said, while I can definitely appreciate a Gumballhead, I would still prefer an Enjoy By; and Southern California's craft brewers are doing some amazing things.

I do find Dogfish and Goose Island to be very overrated.

ErectMedia 07-24-2013 09:18 PM

Dos Equis
Corona
Modelo
Peroni
Stella Artois

DAMNMAN 07-24-2013 10:18 PM

Avery Maharaja IPA. is my current top pick.
I'm drinking a lot of Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA these days too, can't beat the price for such a great IPA.

Jakez 07-24-2013 10:37 PM

Heineken, yuengling, bud light... and then lagunitas if I'm lit already and want to really get drunk.

DatePoster 07-24-2013 10:56 PM

Beer is nasty :2 cents: Bud light platinum is pretty smooth tho. I hate the taste, indigestion, and having to piss every 5 minutes. I even developed a beer belly. When I quit my beer belly disappeared. Now I drink liquor straight :thumbsup
Used to drink this crack head shit before I could legally buy it :1orglaugh

IPA was invented, as I am sure you know, in England. Did you try any when you were here? I find most of the west coast IPAs I tried far too floral for my taste.

I've always said, if you have a favourite beer, you probably don't really like beer.

Saying Corona is your favourite means you like Corona, not beer.

Sophie Delancey 07-25-2013 06:51 AM

Oh, I do love a Rosée d'hibiscus from Dieu du ciel on a hot summer day.

Caldo 07-25-2013 06:53 AM

Heineken and Corona :thumbsup

Double trouble 07-25-2013 07:42 AM

Tuborg :thumbsup

Tom_PM 07-25-2013 07:47 AM

Homebrew, usually some sort of IPA, once in a awhile a stout. It's soon time to brew an Oktoberfest brew, pumpkin ale and Christmas ale.

barelist 07-25-2013 07:58 AM

God bad thread for me...

Got on this strong beer kick the last 4-5 years, finally ended up with some "Sink the Bismarck"...

I've started drinking a lot of Saisons (Saison Brett, Saison Dupont, etc...) now and will probably start up with stouts and porters (Old Rasputin, The Abyss, World Wide Stout, etc...) as it gets cooler.

Trying to stop drinking after my wife's birthday today for a few weeks... we'll see how that goes. Problem is the Whole Foods just down the street has a great bar with only 10 taps... but it's run by beer geeks so always 2-3 weird and wonderful options on tap :(

There is a Whole Foods by LAX that has 24 taps and $5 flights! Now I look forward to taking people to the airport.

Awesome :)

I love how ours is pretty unknown, the bar at least. Pretty easy to go in there after work and just talk without normal bar noise :thumbsup
