For example: African Americans still reside mainly in separate and unequal communities. In 2010, in the 100 metropolitan areas with the largest African American populations, 62.5 percent of blacks would have had to move to achieve full black–white integration.

Those 100 metro areas are shit holes .. of their own doing. If they move to "white communities" crime goes up ... property values go down and the white people move again.

Schools:

My daughters went to a private school , which was predominately white from k-6 . There were issues. Elitist attitudes , cliques based on parental financial standings etc.

In Jr High they went to public school in our very white suburban community. The issue. bussing. The school has quotas based on race. The issues... fights, gangs, drugs etc etc. The perpetrators .. the black kids .. almost ALWAYS.

Thankfully we voted bussing down so beginning in High School we are going back to community based schools. Otherwise they would be back in private school.

I honestly don't believe this problem can ever be fixed. Certainly not in my lifetime. The reasons are twofold:

1. The reality is suburban white people ( my demographic ) resent the premise that we need to "do" something to pull up a community that seems unwilling to help itself.

2. Black people seem to simply deflect blame and refuse to fix the issues in their community.

Example of this:

I ask : Do I need to go tutor the black kids who act out in Math classes because they don't understand?

Answer: No I don't. I have a hard enough time working with my own daughters to excel at math and to complete their daily work. I resent that their parents don't do what I do.


In contrast. ( and this happened at the last PTA meeting )

The parents of the black kids who are struggling all sat together and disrupted the PTA meeting shouting " you ( the teachers ) aren't doing enough to teach our kids." My kids have the same teacher ... my kids have two parents at home ... our kids have = opportunity. The difference?

We assume responsibility ... they turf it off.

Unless both sides agree to better each other simultaneously there will never be a true reconciliation. I just honestly do not see that happening.

I do not consider myself a racist .. We have a number of close black friends. The best man in my wedding and to this day dear friend is black. We love him and their family. Interestingly however he has been often accused by other black as not embracing his "blackness".

I do however admit to holding to stereotypes regarding the "community" . And those are rooted in fact.

They probably want the same thing you want in the end: to be happy.
