The article claims the plea will "spare him" the death penalty.

After a couple of years this guy is going to beg for death. You'll have to remove anything he could make into a noose and anything remotely pointy to prevent him from sparing himself 50 more years in captivity. If he were killed right now, his suffering ENDS. He should be kept alive for the full 1000 of captivity.

I don't understand how his two brothers are being thrown in jail for life as well. They lived in the same house!

EDIT: I guess initial reports on the two brothers were incorrect. I heard when the story broke all three brothers live together. Turns out that was not the case. Ariel lived in the home by himself, with his captive women.

What a Fucking Dumbass. He should fire his lawyer and get a different deal. Purely from a going to jail point of view: go to trial. Get the death penalty. Trial takes 2 years. Now you are 54. After appeals they finally execute you at age 66. You were going to die by then anyway. During trial and the appeals process you have lots of court dates and shit to attend that break up the monotony of prison life and produce your best chances at escape.

The only reason for doing what he did was to make it so the girls didn't have to testify. He wrote a suicide letter leaving his house and possessions to them should he die. So it seems obvious this was a goodwill gesture to them, not a death penalty issue.

why? lots of criminals in the prison for much worse offenses,why would they pick on him? Also,I'm not following the story, he was not pedophile who get the worst treatment in jail.
