Mark Kernes has been fiddling with 3D viewmaster-ish photos for years. I shot Ginger Lynn back in the day and there he was fiddlig with his ancient 3D camera. So if you want to do this as a hobby... talk to him

Porn memorabilia is big money.
A good example is that I have been shooting porn for several decades. I have got old Super 8 films that I shot years ago. Depending on the actress and the scene each film can get between $100 and $250 usd. (Yes I am able to duplicate Super 8 to Super 8 in order to keep the original)
Now I still produce but I have abandon digital format. Now this is the only part of what we do that I will not go into any kind of serious detail about. So without expanding upon the exact particulars about how our business functions, I will simply say it can be done. But money, time and effort need to be invested in developing a new market.
Today the money is in locally produced films using local talent. Punters go crazy thinking they can "find" that girl getting fucked in the film. And they are willing to pay serious money watching the film trying to figure out "where they have seen her."officially retired as of March 01 2018 but still fucking around and getting into shit.Comment

You would be surprised what there is lying around and what someone is willing to pay for what we consider junk. For example I have a girl that works for me today that I used to film in the 1990s. She made a comment to a punter about still having the green double ended dildo used in a film and the basterd wrote her a check for $300 on the spot. (More than what I think I paid her for the scene)
Now what is dying is the mass produced standardized version of porn.
If anyone is going to produce films and they know piracy is going to be a problem. Then in my opinion they need to give up shooting in digital. We started testing our options awhile back and we have slowly solved problems on how to monetize our films... we have progressively cut back on our use of digital and we are going to be retiring our dvd distribution this year.. (we will not be putting anything online)
I hate to say the words "Adapt or Die" but it is exactly that. The difference is that we are not letting anyone dictate to us how we adapt. To this effect everyone in business needs to remember that a business needs to earn money... Certain types of media are more difficult to rip and then there is the loss of quality in the transfer to digtal. Who is going to rip and upload a coffee table book?
Digital to digital is easy and 1:1 or very damn close. Streaming over PC can be easily recorded. Streaming to TV can be easily recorded. Everything to stop theft of it is a bandaid over a wound that will never heal.
Every non-digital path should be explored and not discouraged..

People also need to stop thinking that film is somehow inferior to digital.
For example super 16mm is for most purposes basically high definition. Now if someone wanted to bump that up a bit to a 35mm film they would be producing something of immense quality. And heaven forbid if anyone wanted to take it further and try producing using 65mm or 70mm film.
Plus film has certain advantages
For example: The razor burn on the vagina of the actress suddenly stops looking like a bad herpies break out. Plus film has a warmer, more natural and a more realistic feel for the viewer.
Also there is a certain technical skill required on part of both the camera man, the director and the performers. Anyone shooting in film does not have the luxurary of being able to hire an airhead actress, buy some Homme Depot lights and then put the camera on snooze control in order to produce a somewhat strokeable video.
As you said film is far more difficult to rip. But it is also a higher quality product. However with film the channels of distrubution either change or collapse. If you want to deal with Kitty-Kats you need to be prepared and spend a few dollars.
1- Your works need to be properly registered at the Copyright Office. If you are not serious enough about your works to register them you have no standing to take any action and would get jack shit if you happened to sue somebody.
2- Forget DMCA. They don't care and they ARE NOT protected by that law anyway because they are not registered at the Copyright Office:

--- If not registered they are not protected by DMCA and can be sued the very day you find the infringement.
3- Now, if you are ready to go after them, or the direct posters, just hire a GOOD lawyer that knows these laws and file the suit.
The main owner is in Germany. So what, they (1) have lawyers there just waiting for easy cases like this and (2) he has moderators right in the USA that can be held liable.
You might not get much - but you will put them into bankruptcy and ruin their lives JUST LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO RUIN YOUR'S!!!!
If they don't want to be in bankruptcy the rest of their lives, have a huge bad credit item (Federal Judgments last a long time and can be renewed) on their reports, they will work out a settlement offer and make payments to you.
But, the only way to REALLY minimize the effect of pirates on your online content is to stop talking, stop cussing, and take action. Get off your ass and stop expecting others to post some easy and free solution like an "app" on GFY.
99% of the pirates are little wimps and beg for mercy when they are uncovered. Their toughness comes from YOU (lazy-cheap content owners)... yes, they are tough because they know YOU are all talk.... and will never take action.
Spend a few bucks, find out who they are, send a few certified letters to their house (so the wife knows they could lose their home..) and see how tough they are.
Without action - 6 or 600 threads on GFY are meaningless.Comment

You would get it on national news.

Great Posts Jimmy. I know you have experience in fighting content theft and distribution directly.
DMCA alone is useless, it helps you document repeat infringements but does not protect your content or rights. Acquiring the information to pursue content thieves and their accomplices can be difficult but not impossible. Several Companies have popped up that help with that now, information is constantly being leaked and archived as well as specific investigative work.
Lawyers are becoming better equipped to put up real ligation that stands up in court also.Please HELPComment

I have no idea about what these cases like that costs to run in the US, but it seems like a very low number to me.
But if you can do it for that number, then why not find 40 companies who's content is being infringed on that site, contact them and explain that for $1000 donation you'll mount the case if you raise 40K. If the money is not raised they can get their money back.
Not that I care much, I just found Jimmy's claim to be a bit unrealistic - but if it can be done I am sure the money can be raised *shrug*But.... I pulled out...Comment

The problem is, would such a case result in a collectable judgement that would justify the expense ? In this case I doubt it.
The best way to hurt sites like this is to keep them on the back foot, shut down file lockers, put pressure on their hosting arrangements, shut off ad revenue and so forth.Comment
