It's real potential is as an online currency. I've never understood those who saw it as an investment. As long as it is eventually relatively stable I would not care if it went down to $1. Just increase the proliferation and make it as popular as Paypal.

well, the simple fact is it is stronger than ever. the decrease in valuation, imo, is due to media hype bringing in opportunistic investors who thought they could get rich in a couple months with exponential growth.

when they figured out they missed the rise, they cashed out. mtgox can certainly also be looked at as a reason for the selloff.

but there is gobs of vc money flowing in now, new ideas, roadblocks removed and the riffraff investors are moving on.

that all bodes well for btc.

The market crashed and people had no option but to keep hold of what stocks they had, or lose a lot of money.

Where is the stock market at right now?

Sometimes you gotta take the bad with the good, there will be a recovery, depends on how long that recovery for BTC will take.

On the plus side, those of that did diversify into other crypto currencies, such as LTC are seeing some decent gains which is enough to off-set the potential losses on BTC.

Interestingly when the Dwolla news hit the price of Bitcoin actually rallied and increased for over a week. Mt Gox suspending $ withdrawals for 2 weeks has been a factor in the decline
