Do people rely too much on seo hits?

There was a time that it was said you should make a free site/blog once a day and google would send you hits, and to repeat this each day.

But is google still the way to sales?

I see many still rely on seo only but they say they get less sales.

Do people rely too much on sea for sales?

I rely on SEO way too much, without Google my income would be close to zero. Luckily I have revshare with the players I send to casino, poker and other kind of gambling-sites but that's it.
Every big update like Panda and Penguin makes me piss my pants.

        Yes.

Many people also say not to rely on them but if you don't then there aren't too many other good options that are cost effective.

My feelings are that many of you were realy great with seo in the time (I was no use, so never bothered).

And as such today with google playing silly devils over ranking, many now have just lost sight. Many even just shut up shop.

I in somways have been lucky as I find things are better than ever in sales, mainly as I never dealt with seo as my traffick.

I think mabe we should rather than focus on seo, forget it, and look at other ways.

The days of pumping out a low quality blog or freesite once a day and then relying on Google are long gone. The only people who have some success with that still are blackhats who crank out thousands of them and that success is often limited and it tends not to last very long.

Don't rely on Google. Instead build sites which satisfy users and make them want to come back for more. You want to see numerous non-spam comments indicating user interest and engagement. You want to see visitors linking to your content from other places and referring other people to your sites. That isn't going to happen with a bunch of spam blogs or circa 2003 mini free sites. If you do this Google will tend to give you some love anyway so you can't go wrong with it.

If you insist on doing the blog thing and using affiliate content I suggest focusing on extremely high quality blogs where you are very selective about what you post. Gain a reputation for posting the absolute best quality and aim for selective users who want to see only the best with the least amount of time commitment. Making sales from that is a whole other matter but IMO this is about the only type of blog which can be successful in 2013.

As a program I can see the hits from google are many (we're in first page for several cam terms), but, the conversion ratio of google hits is worst than the one of most affiliates traffic...
