The owner was clearly instigating the police in the midst of a tense situation.
Should he have rolled up in his car blasting loud music yelling at cops? No.

If you own a dog that is likely to protect you in a similar situation, go ahead and get it trained for attack.
Had that been me,
1. My dog would have stopped when I told him to.
2. Had I not seen him coming and stopped his attack one or more of those cops would have been taking a trip to the hospital. Does not fix the problem that they killed your dog but you tend to feel a LOT better about it.
That dog was not trained for what he did he was just trying to protect his master. He was also not trained well enough that when told to stop by his master which it appears he does, he still try's to attack.
Sadly, this is the owners fault 100%, from instigating an issue with the cops to not having full control of his dog.
And for whoever said to grab the dog, Grab a video camera and go and video yourself grabbing a dog you dont know that is threatening to attack you.

I am sure the reason they are using to justify the arrest is the " inciting " laws that the city/state has. Its pretty obvious there are plenty of people watching the situation and that is something that can get out of hand really really fast putting the cops in an even worse position.
Its hard to tell from the video if the cops told the guy to move on or not as you really can not hear them. if they did and he refused and wanted to turn it into a racial thing which he seems to have wanted to by his statement about not having a black cop on the scene He was pushing them into a situation where they had to get him out of the area. either to leave on his own or put him in a police car so no one could hear him any more to diffuse any situation he was creating.

There are multiple videos of this from different angles on the internet. He had his windows down because he was deliberately playing loud music from his car in the middle of a hostage situation, and yelling about how there were "no black cops."

It's unfortunate that the dog got shot. You can clearly tell that there are a lot of dog owners in here chiming in, but we need to take into account that not all cops are dog owners, or dog lovers for that matter. Even quite dog savvy people don't necessarily know how to read a dog's body language and interpret their behavior.
Unfortunately in this instance, the owner of the dog set into motion, a chain of events that got his dog killed. Had he left when asked to, or secured his dog in the car with the windows up, or had him trained enough that he would have sat and stayed when told to, things might be different. It wasn't the responsibility of the cops to do any of those things, and when the dog advanced the cop did what he felt was necessary to protect himself and his fellow officers.
Who knows, maybe the officer had ulterior motives, whether to teach the guy a lesson, or just hated dogs because he didn't get one as a kid, we'll never know, but he was still within his rights to shoot it. They will still have to suffer through the bad PR that this brings though.Rich"at"rebel-ads.com

Maybe, didn't train it well enough.
STRUGGLED such that his dog felt compelled to try to intervene.
Either way, not the dogs fault whatsoever.
Very sad video and hard to watch.
Not too much the cops could have done aside from uncuff the owner, but since he had already resisted ....

I really wish i didn't watch the end of that.
The dude clearly thought he was being a smart ass. Why not just go about his business and let the police do theirs. As a result, a dog has been shot dead. What a waste.
One thing i will say though. After the dog took a couple of shots, why not put the poor thing out of it's misery quicker? The cop aimed the gun as if he would only shoot again if the dog got back up. Just finish the job that had already been started and show some mercy...
