    Target is screwed

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/...A2C14F20140313

    - Target Corp's security software detected potentially malicious activity during last year's massive data breach, but its staff decided not to take immediate action, the No. 3. U.S. retailer said on Thursday.

"With the benefit of hindsight, we are investigating whether if different judgments had been made the outcome may have been different," company spokeswoman Molly Snyder said in a statement.

The disclosure came after Bloomberg Businessweek reported on Thursday that Target's security team in Bangalore had received alerts from a FireEye Inc security system on November 30 after the attack was launched and sent them to Target headquarters in Minneapolis.

Morrisons - A big supermarket here got fucked over here as well - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-26574161

If these guys are making a point I don't get why they have to fuck over the innocent whose data they stole by publishing it on the web. Send the data to a news paper or a security blog...

The more the customer is hurt the more they hurt the company; so it's probably more about
      hurting the company.
      Good luck.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Lots of corporations don't take their IT very seriously. Lots of incompetence out there.

Here is what bothers me about Target, the last 4 times my wife and I have gone there to buy stuff they have overcharged us.

Last night, $140 bill, overcharged us $16. Time before that, $13.

The first time I saw my wife checking the receipt before we left I thought she was nuts. She had said the last time she had gotten home they had charged her almost twice the advertised price on cat food. Now she checks it every time before she leaves. Quite a racket they have running.
