Free is great! But a donation system might work too. Or even $1 per month, per domain (with a minimum $5 - $10 paypal payment?). With the latter in the long run you could come out ahead anyway.

Only difference is if you do a traffic skim, whats gonna stop people from removing that skim? You'd have to encode the software, and that's saying he's got an IonCube encoding package and a lot don't have the loaders on their servers so he's losing potential users...Comment

There's no catch. I'm always clear with the business model.
I know the product is good, and you will love it.
I will probably give only the 1st licese for free (without support), and the rest of the licenses, with regular price, or else give all license for free without the videos grabber (grabber at a fee)

If you give 1st licese for free, how you will know that same person will not request you another script for free from another email?
With my experience every script that comes with standard installation without customization sucks, so in near future I will rise price of my script but will delivery custom site for each customer.Comment

i have v1 but , i always like the automagic v 2 as it came with ipsp integration and with premium section.
but never had time to buy and develop such sites.Comment
