At the end making money has to do with the surfer paying for content.

What content should they pay for and what can you do to "make them pay"?
Using all the tricks and make a lot of them "banner scared" or going for a long term relationship with regular visitors so there will be repeat sales...

Is free content a way to get them in?

One thing that's gonna be a trend in 2001 is less explicit stuff for free. I think we should draw the line at Tits and Ass. Just like what they show on HBO.

I think free content is a great incentive for a surfer to check out a site.

But how much free content do we need?

There's so much around these days, that a surfer would be crazy to sign up for $30 a month, to get the same quantity of pics he/she can grab for free.

I know most free content is pretty shit. What about all the hacked sites though?

Personally, I'd love to see restrictions in place for free sites. Then AVS and paysites would start to kick ass again.

All the porn addicts, getting their daily dose would be paying for it, not leeching pictures off us...someone ends up covering the cost!!

That would probably have the desired effect, but try telling all the TGP owners and posters to give up a very profitable line of work.

IMO, the reason reality sites are currently selling so well is the amount of free studio porn around.

Once there's the critical mass of free 'reality' content floating around, you can expect conversions there to slow down too.

Last I checked the business was about selling memberships.
They shouldn't necessarily be banner scared, as much as jaded by free content. Problem is there's just sooo much of the shit everywhere.

Beats most paysites, concerning quality and update frequency.

Yea I see allot of free porn but I would think that most people understand that if they want quality they have to sign up for a membership - seeing how most of us only offer example clips and so on...

TGPs and Revshare sites only offer examples of what to expect from they're sponsers - it's those Pc2Pc software like Kazaa that is fuck'n us over.

A good friend of mine has hours of full length porn movies on his system and he hasn't paid a damn thing for them.

Rather then going after the little guy I would suggest that you go after the pricks that make a living off your smut and don't have any respect for your copy rights. Kazaa being one of them!

Me too, Lens but how the hell would we get everyone to agree?! Less pics and less free content hasn't exactly had much success as movements in the industry.

How does such a trend begin?

Quality? If you are over the age of 25 you remember a time when you would be excited about having a new Club magazine with about 30 pics total and some baby oil.

Do you guys really think all the surfers need plug ins and big downloadable movies to be satisfied when they have 500 galleries of 20 pic hardcore action easily sorted by thumbnails on a free page that has been quality controlled to make sure there are no pop ups and it loads fast?

Looking at that old Club or Cherie magazine makes that thumb TGP look like heaven. This is how a ton of surfers look at it. We the webmasters are jaded in thinking they really want more. They will take more, but they are pretty happy with that 20 pic high quality gallery of Aria Giovanni that they will rub one out to in 3 minutes flat... then turn to espn.com where they will stay for the rest of the night.

This is an argument that will never die but let's keep it in perspective.

Most galleries lead to pure crap (30$ persignup) membershipsites that have a zillion lousy feeds.

The serfs learn quick enough to stay away from membership and keep to the free stuff. I would.
