But you won't touch hashbrowns like the ones in the first post. You are wrong though.

Carbs are the enemy in Keto. 20g/day.

that has nothing to do with you saying carbs ar bad and has everything to do with an unbalanced diet designed to lose weight.

sure if you want to lose weight, one option is to cut carbs, that's one option.

i'm a type 1 diabetic of 33 years, carbs are not bad for you and a low carb high fat diet does not necc regulate sugars. i have 1st hand experience of that. and gobs of research to back that up.

skipping any of the macronutrients is simply poor nutrition.

keto is not healthy in the long term, it is not a valid daily nutrition plan.

I can have anywhere from 50-75G a day and stay in ketosis no problem.

For some reason I REALLY like their hashbrowns.

dyna mo 06-20-2013 11:45 AM

btw, if anyone wants my copy of lyle mcdonald's the ketogenic diet, lemme know. it's the keto bible, as you prolly know.

i don't plan on dieting at that level again so i don't need the book anymore.

Many scientists who have studied the diet disagree with you.

Yes they say 50g to make sure you stay in ketosis, but if you want to do a strict diet, 20g is what they recommend.

Tom_PM 06-20-2013 11:49 AM

I worked as a dishwasher / busboy at Denny's when I was a kid and their hashbrowns come in big paper cartons. Just dump some onto the grill and wait for the browning.

Always been a fan of tater tots, hashbrowns, fries.. whole potatoes, mashed.. whatever. They're just addictive things.

These days I do like sweet potatoes more, but I wouldn't leave any hashbrowns on my plate if I had some.

this is the latest study, 2013

The role of very-low-carbohydrate ketogenic diets (VLCKD) in the long-term management of obesity is not well established.

that's an incomplete statement.. depends on your workouts. I just finished a 3 week carb load.. eating anywhere from 3500 to 5000 calories a day of carb heavy food including pastries and pizza (whole pizzas) and I still have a 28 inch waistline with prime health markers so again, saying carbs are bad is a perspective thing.

dyna mo 06-20-2013 11:58 AM

the big issue i have with blanket statement such as carbs are bad is the fact that people glob onto comments like that and make up shit as a result, like fruit is bad for you. i actually have had to sit friends down and explain to them that fruit is not bad for you.

yeah studies done with people who don't follow the guidelines proper often develop poor results..

but again it is more about insulin control and timing than it is elimination.

well, that's the other part eh, we both know how insanely difficult it is to stay in keto.

and rocking in and out of keto is a nightmare on blood sugar levels. spike city. crazy lows, insulin sensitivity changes.
