Looked at January's $317 for electricity and $127 for gas. Went back and looked at July's for comparison... electricity was $321 and gas was $22.

Heck.. and we don't leave the lights on much either. In the summer is the a/c mostly that keeps it high. In the winter the lights are on for more hours.

peeks, i think he was asking for houses under 12 bedrooms :winkwink:

twistyneck 02-26-2003 05:21 AM

Whale oil = $277, Coal = $327 Not too bad, it was a lot higher last year.

Thomas N 02-26-2003 06:02 AM

Most recent:

Gas: $225
Electric: $135

mule 02-26-2003 06:10 AM

I keep pigs in the basement to keep me warm, and I use the methane they produce for cooking, hot water and lights.

Rocky 02-26-2003 06:20 AM

In the winter:

gas - 300 to 400
electricity - 150

:(

Wilbo 02-26-2003 06:52 AM

My last bill for both combined was $392. They used to be well over $500 until we had the new furnace installed.

Bobby Vicious 02-26-2003 07:08 AM

Gas for cooking-$ 100.00 per year
Electrical- about $250.00 - $300.00 per month but I can pay as much as $500.00 per month during the summer when I work the central ac 24/7.

BVF 02-26-2003 07:14 AM

my last gas bill was $343....the next one I gotta pay is 141....When it's hot outside, I'll only be paying $30

Electric runs 70 a month...

KRL 02-26-2003 07:43 AM

The highest electric bill was when we lived in LA. During peak summer months it was about $1,600.

FATPad 02-26-2003 08:29 AM

Gas used to be $200/mo in the winter, and electric around $40.00.

Last year I got a little, electric space heater. Gas is now $80 and electric is $100 during the winter.

slaphappy 02-26-2003 08:34 AM

Mine are going up and I have always kept my apt at 75 degrees both winter and summer:

This month: 108.49
Electric Service $82.65 1/31/2003
Electric Service $79.85 12/30/2002
Electric Service $48.01 11/20/2002
Electric Service $35.89 10/21/2002
Electric Service $56.34 9/25/2002

Peaches 02-26-2003 08:40 AM

My house is small, but it's all electric except for the gas logs in my fire place and an auxilary heater. Both of those run on propane. I went through one propane tank this year: 330 gallons $1.50 a gallon.

Electric averages about $120 a month throughout the year.

CrazyNakedChick 02-26-2003 08:45 AM

living in the old winter wonderland that is michigan (it was -7 last night) my shit is high, and i burn a lot of electric.

electric: $250 (around 150 in summer)
gas: $150-200 (around 100 in summer)

Jer 02-26-2003 08:48 AM

ELECTRIC:

Parents house: $30 - $40
Office: $10-$15

MikeFold 02-26-2003 10:17 AM

funny you should ask...i was just researching last year vs. this year..(been cold here in Cleveland)
last month bills
gas-480
electric-121

now, computed at last years rate
gas-290
elec-100

ever really look at the bill...the product is "capped", but the delivery and transmission is not.....

this is a new house with all gas (furnaces, fireplaces, water heater and stove)
oven is electric

fletcher 02-26-2003 10:25 AM

Gas - about $130
Electric - $120

During the summer I regularly hit over $200 on the electric, damn Texas heat. Gas prices here have gone up something like 40% in the last few weeks, so I can't wait to get this months bill :)

LadyMischief 02-26-2003 10:38 AM

About $700-$900/ month. It would be much more if we used electric heat instead of wood heat. We are quite far off the beaten path, and now with the stupid Ontario Hydro deregulation, it fucked the prices up immensely. And now we have service charges on our bill to pay back the hydro company's old debt. The government put a freeze on Hydro prices, but ONLY in the cities, they seem to forget that us "country bumpkins" pay double from the get-go, and the majority of people up here (not us, but people born and raised) have a hard enough time feeding their kids let alone paying hydro rates like that. Quite a few people I know of are going without electricity at all.

LadyMischief 02-26-2003 10:39 AM

I should mention that I didn't post gas because well, we don't GET gas service out here :P We use wood heat.

kmanrox 02-26-2003 10:41 AM

48$ water
110$ electricity
0$ gas

i think im getting ripped, i thought this country was supposed to be cheaper... wtf

kaylacam 02-26-2003 10:53 AM

...mine is, apparently, scheduled for disconnect unless I pay them before March 8th...I HATE playing catch up! SCREW YOU RICHRAD for screwing me out of the $2000 you owe me!

Honeyslut 02-26-2003 11:59 AM

same situtaion here. 1 bedroom, all utils but electric included.

Kimmykim 02-26-2003 12:34 PM

Right now my gas and electric are around 250-300 together, with no AC on and no heat either really...

Summer will be probably double that for AC which will come on before some of you get rid of your snow I bet ;)

What really sucks is the 60 dollar a month bill I get for water, sewer and trash pickup from the city...
