The funny thing is that he was very small by todays standards. 240 pounds, maybe 4-5% bodyfat % at 6'2" or so? He'd probably have to be 100 pounds heavier today at 1-2% bodyfat to compete for the same titles today.

1-2% bf is insane. those guys prolly can only stay there for the day of the bb show. maybe even less. that's deathly low bf. i couldn't imagine. i trained/ate right to get myself to ~5% BF a while back and holy fuck it was tough and your body can't stay there. it's a struggle. a women would die at that %.

Yeah, thats just for the show. Not healthy for sure. Definitely unhealthy for women as it tends to have some lasting consequences such as menstrual problems etc.

can you imagine how hard the timing is for these show nowadays? it's always been about peaking, but the peak window used to be a ~week, now, due to the low bf% requirements, those contestants have to time their peak to a few hours. miss that show window and they look puffy compared to the guys who hits his peak on-time.
