In '79 he was fronting The Pumps. You may remember their songs Success or Bust the TV. They later (1983) changed their name to Orphan and had hits with Lonely at Night and the already posted Miracle.

He did in later years tour under his own name, which is what you must be referring to. But he was definitely on the scene in the '79-'83 years range.

That was shot here in Winnipeg just a few months ago. Note the drunk chick getting casually lifted off the stage at around the 7:00 minute mark. That's what Goddo does to Winnipeg chicks, makes them get up and get weird.
