That's waaaaaaaaaaaay high for DUI bail in Los Angeles. I bailed a buddy out from a DUI arrest, and his bail was $5,000... and this wasn't too long ago. It may be that high as he already had a criminal charge pending. If he used a bail bondsmen to get him out on the DUI it would've cost him 10%, I believe... which is a lot of money.
