But I am upset with Fris, and as it stands he's had 640$ of mine for a few weeks without delivering anything
I took him up on the monthly offer he had posted a while back, to hire him on a monthly basis -- there was a little delay initially in where immediately after he got the money he took off, and said he had food poisoning... didn't buy it but still wanted to work with him... took my money back, waited until he felt better, then sent him money again, this time not the full amount, but a 640$ deposit to get started.
Things seemed to be fine for a few days, no results, but at least communication, he needed a few days longer to complete the first task we were working on, gave him twice that amount, then when I wanted to talk to him again, I haven't seen him online for a week.
This is nothing new, happens all the time with freelance work, usually I have money in escrow but I figured with Fris's reputation it would be a safer bet to give him something upfront as he requested. Now I'm left with 2-3 weeks worth of delays where I could've hired someone else and Fris is no where to be found.Comment

We paid him for a job over 6 months ago that never got completed, and he ignored all correspondence we sent as well after the first week of working on said project... so, I wouldn't be so quick to speak for someone else' credibility heh... No, as I said in my previous post, all correspondence after the first week were ignored so we moved on and I ended up writing the scripts myself.
As I said, it is what it is. For every one person who had a bad experience, a thousand more jump in and defend someone they likely never hired to begin with (not saying you have or haven't, just saying in general).
If you're providing a service for a fee then the bullshit needs to be left at the door. Either do the job or don't accept it, and if something comes up, inform your paying client(s) of such...Comment

Perhaps you should have pursued communications for longer than a week, not saying that makes it justifiable in any regard.. But again Fris is the type of guy who has a thousand things on his plate.. He is constantly helping people on this forum and doing favors for folks here.
I would hire Fris in a second.. I actually did of sorts and he refused payment citing the work was too easy. But still work and time none the less.
I highly doubt there are that many people who have had this type of experience with him, as this board eats their own. But again I do empathize with anyone who has hired anyone for a job and hasn't received it.. If specific terms were agreed upon.
Did he do any work for you? Did you receive anything? Did you pay anything upfront?
The OP said he was refunded initially.. Then re-hired. I myself have never run into a freelancer who doesn't occasionally run into issues via life or work that has a negative effect on the work agreed upon or the deadline. People aren't perfect, and shit happens, being it justifiable or not.
There are always two sides to every story as well.
I can only state from personal experience I find Fris to be very trustworthy and very good at what he does, unique in fact.
I do feel empathize with the OP and yourself as well.. But life happens, and again there are always two sides to every story. I myself would be very reluctant to walk away from an agreed* upon job after only one week after the start date if I had both hired and paid for x amount of work and received nothing. But that's me.
As to the OP, again.. If fris is mia I'm sure there is reason for it. If he or anyone else has issue with this, I suggest going elsewhere with their business next time.

I wouldn't have thought there would be a reason for Fris to do this either... but apparently he has, small chance there's a good reason, and big chance he has some sort of excuse for a good reason. It's unfortunate because it's hard to find a good freelancer these days and as Fris was wanting to be paid by the month I would've hired him for 6 months or longer for MORE than what he was asking for an on an increasing amount. Now I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do, frankly I don't care that much about the money I put down (though I will get it back) I'm more pissed about having to look for someone else to help with what I need done.Comment
