                      The Honda-riders lack of clutch control skill, and not revving it enough at takeoff to produce enough torque. His takeoff was so slow he didn't even have to lean to compensate for the left turning tendencies made by the engine.

                                              Not that surprising actually, a Harley motor produces a huge amount of low-end torque, much more than the high-revving Jap motor, great for quick take-offs.
                                              Over a short distance the Harley would lead but if that race had gone a full 1/4 mile then the rice rocket's horsepower and higher rpms would have made it the easy winner.

                                                      Not exactly accurate. The Honda might win a 1/4 mile, but any one of my Harley's would beat it on a race from LA to San Francisco.
