I would build a solid steel incased basement filled with games, a pool table, and hookers.
If the contractor said we can't because of red clay, I would hire one from nj.
Tornadoes have serious power.

Exactly, I mean why does a place like Los Angeles need to continue to exist?
Haven't they had enough quakes to just give up and die yet?

Since you can't tell the difference between small earthquakes that are virtually non destructive and huge F4 and F5 tornadoes that reduce entire towns to rubble every ten years or so, yet appear every single year and only by luck they don't destroy the same neighborhoods, I won't waste your time explaining the boring details of what makes one of them significantly worse than the other and why living in one of those areas is not a bright idea.

Or here is another idea...

Rebuild, but make an underground house. Not only would it be safe from tornadoes that happen there every year, but the earth would help insulate the home.

Using BlackMonster's knucklehead comment as an example, why doesn't LA fall to pieces with every quake? Because they build the structures now to be able to withstand quakes. Smart people who live in flood zones do what? They elevate their homes. If you live in the arctic, you insulate your home. If you live in the tropics, you shade and insulate your home. Yet, these idiots in the Midwest just keep rebuilding the same shit over and over and over, out of wood, and expecting a different result every year when the tornadoes come. Logic says that if you live in tornadoes alley, you build your freakin' house underground, build it once, build it with concrete, and you'll never have to rebuild it again. Some people are smart enough to have storm shelters they can hide in, but none of them are smart enough to turn the entire home into a storm shelter.

Why do people run under highway bridges if they are caught out when a tornado comes? Why don't those bridges ever rip apart like their wooden houses?

The third pig builds a house of bricks. The wolf fails to blow down the house. The end.

Exactly.

Add some steel doors you can close or roll down over those windows and doors and cook dinner while a F5 rolls over your house.

Yeah, that Northridge quake was a itty bitty fellow.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles
Quote:
In 1994, the 6.7 Northridge earthquake shook the city, causing $12.5 billion in damage and 72 deaths.[
Those "small" quakes tear up streets, sidewalks and buildings all the time.
They just break up and fall years later when the News is not hot!

My apartment had cracks all though it, I went back to visit six months after I moved out and the roof had caved in. This was 2 years before the Northridge quake.

LA doesn't put "condemned" signs on buildings because their toilet backed up.

"Tiny quakes" don't give you the blood and gore to make you give a shit, but 1000's
of people have things in their homes/offices/building destroyed.

The grocery stores usually look pretty good too, especially the egg, jelly and soda sections.

Are you deviating from your sarcastic "Stop building there stance" or are you suggesting people build this shit and THEN move the fuck away?
