Why do you fools always drive on the wrong side of the road?
from Wikipedia
In the late 18th century, the shift from left to right that took place in countries such as the United States was based on teamsters? use of large freight wagons pulled by several pairs of horses. The wagons had no driver's seat, so a postilion sat on the left rear horse and held his whip in his right hand. Seated on the left, the driver preferred that other wagons pass him on the left so that he could be sure to keep clear of the wheels of oncoming wagons. He did that by driving on the right side of the road.
It's because if we had it to where we drove the opposite side, that NASCAR drivers would not know what the hell to do, because they only turn left, turn left, turn left...

It's important not to confuse rednecks with too many instructions at once.
I hate this. When I'm in the USA I drive on one side of the road and sit on one side of the car, then when I'm back in Thailand I drive on the other side of the road and sit on the other side of the car. It is completely backwards. Not just driving on the other side, but also driving from the other seat!!!!
The first week or two back in either really screw me up, especially when I'm making a turn at a large intersection and no one is in front of me that I can follow, as I'm not 100% sure which lane to aim for.
