why does california get credit for toyota usa paying the feds from their corporate headquarters in california. Why does each resident of california get their per capita revenue figure bolstered by the tax on profit from every toyota vehicle sold in the rest of the country?

Why do new york residents get to divide per capita tax collected on every penny declared as profit from investment bank/stock brokerages on transaction across the country just because their corp headquarters pay from wall st?

Why does procter and gamble out of ohio up the percentage of their residents from tax collected on consumer products sold in other states? Proctor and gamble probably has a half dozen products in every house in every state but pay from corporate offices in cincinnati ohio.

Think where most big tax paying corporations are located ?.. Look at those states on the list now and you'll see why the numbers are incorrect. Poor guy in new mexico driving a toyota has just increased the per capita numbers for some guy in california.

Pretty much.. The right is filled with hypocrites that cry afoul at anyone else getting something that the right doesn't like. Soon as the right needs or wants something then it's "you're taking our freedom fries away" or "you hate Jesus".

Most of the time the right does the exact same things they bitch and moan about the left doing, when it comes to spending and so on. Then when you say something about it.. they try to claim it's totally different..
In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.

Of the 22 states that went to McCain in 2008, 86 percent received more federal spending than they paid in taxes in 2010. Richard...as I pointed out, and Crockett tried to lie about...the federal funds to those "red" states are mostly military spending.

                          Alaska? NORAD

Virginia? One of the biggest naval bases in the world in Norfolk

New Mexico? Roswell and nuclear weapons facilities.

Military spending is what's out of control...and the federal govt. is to blame.

To try and somehow shift what the feds are doing (taking people's money through taxation and funneling it to their cronies in the military industrial complex) and make it the fault of ignorant rednecks is completely outrageous.

One day the people of this country are going to wake up and stop being the victim of crooked politicians who have created this fantasy of "red vs. blue" and completely distracted the population from what they are doing.

Robbie even after I copied and pasted from your own link.. you still claim New Mexico's money went to the military.. Seriously dude it was a link you provided and you still didn't read it.. New Mexico's money went to Medicaid & the nuke plant .. Military spending wasn't even mentioned as anything worth note.

                                                          Alaska? NORAD

Military spending is out of control..

However, in order to change that, you need to provide the people that work with the military other ways to get jobs

so not only are they using that funding, they're using it in the wrong places, while voting for people who are working toward dismantling that social structure? Can't imagine 'social funding' is any republican platform. (unless it's military spending?)

anyway, the whole right/left paradigm. i don't really follow it.

"New Mexico received the third-highest procurement spending per capita in the U.S. at $3,641.68. A significant component of this spending was under the category of non-defense agency spending for the Department of Energy. New Mexico received more federal funding from the Department of Energy than any other state, with an amount of $4.8 billion. This is due to the three nuclear weapons facilities located within the state."

When you look at the total federal tax revenue by state, collected by the IRS you are including individual AND corporate dollars. They are mixed. So ????

There was time when at least the right used to "pretend" they were fiscal conservatives, however that time has long past and to be honestly they really never were. They just live in a little dream world where it's rainbows & unicorns when they hold the high office but always doom & gloom when they don't.
it goes back and forth depending on the voting body.. this 'right/left' paradigm is a little simplistic, and especially for nations such as ours

maybe the US is more 'melting pot' than Canada, but a multifaceted government approach is just more 'checks and balances' in the end, in my opinion

That would be better number because simply looking at whole states does not paint correct picture. For the reasons L-pink and others mentioned.
                                                                                              For example:
Government starts some facility in certain state, that means more funding, but does that mean that suddenly people from that state became freeloaders even more? No, but according to OP's inaccurate method that would be yes.
