can't acces my sites, router problem?

Often happens that when I try to open any of my sites I get "Could not connect to remote server" message. This means that I can not access blog/site admin and usually can not connect to ftp from that computer. Sometimes restarting router helps for a while, sometimes everything becomes ok after 3 days not loading site.
Whats strange is that:
*It only happens with my own sites (meaning I don't get "Could not connect to remote server" message when entering any other site on the internet).
*It happens with all my hosting accounts, so its not hosting issue.
*It does not happen with all sites on that host, for example if I have 6 blogs on that host, 3 may load fine and 3 may give that error message. It means that not the whole IP is blocked.

Any technical guys to advice whats the problem?

I have had similar problems with some hosts. They blacklist your IP if your FTP have to many connections at the same time. They claimed they never hat that problem before, but it happened every month or so, mainly with the shared hosting accounts.

It's a good way to identify a good host :-)

Hmm, I thought it, contacted them with my IP, they checked and "whitelisted" it but it did not help. Restarting router helped sometimes.
And most important if that was the case - how come I could open some sites of mine on that same host/Ip while others gave me error message? If I have blog1.com, blog2.com, blog3.com, blog 4.com it could be that I can open 2 of them, but not the other 2. If it was IP problem why not all of them? Thats one mystery for me.

Ps: Also sometimes it just gets back to being ok after few days without me doing anything, so if my IP was blacklisted it should not be ok without me contacting my host to whitelist it? Unless they blacklist it for limited time only.

Just my random thoughts.... Its really annoying, it happens for months, years with all of my hosts. Not very often but when it happens it sucks.

It is possible that your host has a DNS server issue or some internal routing issue, (or other) for your domains -- ask some friends to try to open them when you have problems and see if they work for them OK ...

If they work for them ...

On Windows open a command prompt and type >nslookup domain_name

On LINUX in terminal type $dig domain_name

See if your DNS resolves to the correct server IP CONSISTANTLY - If it does then it is not a DNS issue

If it resolves to 2 IPs then there is an error somewhere ... start at the registrar then all the DNS servers that that domain has entries for -- good luck!

If it doesn't resolve -- add 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS Servers) to your DNS resolvers or some other Public DNS Servers

Hi, thanks for advice.
Yes, websites work/open perfectly fine at my friends and so on. I used to go to one of them or to those pay for internet hour classes if I needed to quick update something on my sites if I had this issue. Its just my computer (or IP or router) that is causing this trouble.

Not sure if thats 2 IPs and thats bad, but I donn't think so because any website that I nslookuped had 2 IPs like in this screen.

Try ipconfig flushdns in an elevated command prompt

Go into your router config and see if it's blocking any traffic

Make sure you don't have any firewall settings you don't know about

Make sure you're not accidentally hammering the server you end up not being able to connect to

Are you sure all the different sites are on the same server? Sure?

When I ran into issues like these on a client computer, I made a little batch file that sits there automatically clearing the dns cache every hour. I didn't know what the fuck else to do.

Another thing to try would be using different dns servers http://www.comodo.com/secure-dns/switch/ in case your ISP is just ignorant and stupid. I know Cox AND Comcast BOTH cause issues like these sometimes because they're not too bright. They're so worried about fucking with P2P traffic they end up fucking other shit up to hell

No need to fuck with your DNS.
Just make sure you are indeed getting the correct, same, IP.
ping (www.whatever.com)

If that always comes back the same even when you cannot reach the site, its not that, no need to do the voodoo dance.

Is that the correct domain host server's IP that is resolving in that image?

Could you access the website at that time?

Nope, can not access. This IP is tmz hosting's shared account I have, BUT it does not matter much because it happens with other hosting accounts I have as well from time to time, this one is just an example. So this is unlikely to be issue on host provider's end I think.
Problem is most likely on my end (router?, ISP?). What is strange that only my sites encounter these issues, meaning I never have problems loading any other sites on the internet.
