Falling off is never good but sometimes it's the 5mph prangs that leave you with a broken bone, while you get away with just a few scuffs at 60mph.

So what about falling off at 230mph? Perhaps my weird logic doesn't apply but drag racer Chris Matheson gets away with just a broken ankle. When you see what he goes through, well, he's a lucky chap.

You get an idea of just how much force is involved when you see the bike ploughing into the tyre wall at the end of this longer clip which is shot from a different angle and misses the crash but catches up with the aftermath.

One time, my grandmother broke her ankle. It sounded like a raw carrot snapping in half. She REFUSED to go to the doctor and walked around on it for TWO WEEKS until it swolled all up

I can't imagine being that tough. Or tough enough to come off of a bike at 230MPH and LIVE

It´s usually not the fall that does the damage it´s the stopping.
Some of the crashes in motogp are crazy, and people just get up and walk away.

tracks are only 1000 feet now due to over running the 1/4 mile

They race 1000 feet, the tracks themselves are about 1/2 miles long.
