The GOP Doesn?t Want to Create Jobs, and Here?s Why

The author is correct. The GOP ain't done shit about jobs. If anything, they're trying to keep unemployment high.

For all of their talk about ?creating jobs? and strengthening the economy, the GOP is doing little more than taking a leak on our shoes and telling us it?s raining. ?We?re trying to create jobs, but Obama and the Senate won?t approve our bill,? says John Boehner as he and the rest of the ?do nothing except vote for another meaningless repeal of Obamacare? Congress head off for another vacation. Have they proposed anything that would actually get people to work, perhaps doing something like fixing our crumbling infrastructure or making us energy independent? Nope, not even close.

Somehow, even though the stock market and corporate coffers are at record highs, they actually want us to believe that only by further cutting taxes and regulations will we ever see that mythical ?trickle-down? flow of money from the rich.

If the con of ?trickle-down? economics was actually true, we?d be drowning in jobs right now, but we?re not. If you?re a member of the 1%, the economy is working great for you right now. If you own a lot of investments and have places offshore to squirrel your money away from the reaches of the IRS, you?re far better off than us, the 99%.

Let?s face it, they don?t want to create an economy where there are jobs for every qualified applicant. For the people they actually represent, the current situation is ideal. They?re paying low taxes, getting government handouts and forcing their employees to work harder for less. They have absolutely zero incentive to create American jobs unless demand for a product or service becomes so high they have no other choice than to hire more people.

They also have an interest in keeping unemployment at a level that forces people to take jobs they may not want, and for less pay than they would get in a job market like we had before the recession in 2007.

When you look at it, every proposal from the current do-nothing Congress (and the one before it) has done nothing to put people back to work, instead focusing on fattening the pockets of their corporate sponsors and masters.

On top of that, you know those politicians who are screaming about ?socialism? and how Obama is killing the economy? Their corporate contributors have been enjoying record profits since the President saved Detroit and prevented the recession from becoming a depression. They?ve received bailouts, tax breaks and subsidies all while hoarding money and refusing to create new jobs unless they absolutely have to. If that isn?t economic treason, I?m not sure what is.

Last time I looked the GOP did not control the Senate or the White House, perhaps the unemployment has to do more with the failed policies that are in place than what is "Not being done".

It is not the role of government to create jobs, it it their role to get the hell out of the way and let them happen

Why would the GOP care about jobs?

If you keep the jobs scarce, employers can pay labor less. You would then be happy to have a job, ANY kind of job, if you're a worker bee. You will either work harder for less, or you will be unemployed and back to chasing down scraps or working 2-3 jobs to pay the bills. Assuming your state does not provide years of endless government hand outs.

For the past decade it's been an employer's market, and labor's wages and benefits have suffered for it.

What kind of legislation gets passed without Congress? The Repiggies don't NEED to control the Senate or the White House to fuck things up. And they are willfully fucking things up. There are endless examples of GOP obstructionism. Filibuster after filibuster. The sequester. Threatening to default on the USA's financial obligations, etc.

Now they're busy beating off their Benghazi boner.

Democrats are always afraid to list the facts and call the GOP on their bullshit - THAT is the main reason for gridlock in D.C., IMO.

You don't have to have a majority to filibuster every fucking bill that Dems try to push. Seriously turn off Fox news because you don't seem to understand the reality of what the House and Senate Republicans have done the last 5 years.

Republicans have used the Filibuster 136 times since 2009 to 2011. Doesn't matter if you are the majority or not, when the other side simply has the easy ability to block everything using the filibuster.

Republicans have ruined this country. Dems aren't much better but at least they aren't a bunch of selfish assholes that will do anything to fuck the other side. Which is pretty much all the Republican party is at this point. They are a bunch of children acting like whiny spoiled brats.

For fuck sake. Are you really repeating that drivel? You've been brainwashed by the corporate media. Yes, the government DOES have a role in creating jobs - if the private sector isn't doing it (and they're not). The government is the employer of last resort. And considering how decrepit our infrastructure is, there are plenty of jobs that could be filled. http://www.theatlanticcities.com/job...rovement/5029/

But Repiggie shitbags stand in the way time and again. They have no problem letting roads, bridges, sewers, electrical grids, dams, levees, etc just fall apart. Making needed repairs and upgrades would create paying jobs that would get money circulating and help get the economy moving faster. But that's the last thing the cocksucking GOP bastards want. Let a Democratic president get credit for cleaning up the mess they created? They're not sitting still for that.

LOL, so you're saying the GOP is to blame for the money the present administration spent for saving the economy, you know, the stimulus!

Indeed, the working age population has increased by 8.4 million since President Obama entered office. With the same labor force participation as on Inauguration Day in January, 2009 (which would be closer to a real recovery), that would require 5.5 million new jobs just to keep up with the aforementioned population growth. But a generous reading of the data is that during President Obama?s entire term in office, a grand total of only 787,000 jobs have been created overall on net. And all of that net growth came in the last month. As of August, 2012, the economy was still suffering a net loss of jobs during Obama?s entire Presidency up to that point.

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
                                              think about that
