I hope not, absolutely no experience in the Champions League

United absolutely need a high profile manager who can continue the success i.e. Mourinho

Mourinho and two high profile signings - Bale & Ronaldo for the win!

Morinho is an excellent trainer but he is not suitable for Man Utd.
He does not fit into the culture there.

He would be an excellent choice, he has a track record of winning titles, bringing through young players and he has an excellent eye for signing incredibly talented players for cheap - Kagawa, Subotić, Lewandowski & Hummels

Plus they play high tempo exciting football.

I wish Arsen Wenger would retire also, but then again, looks like Arsenal might still be in the top 4 again.

David Moyes has done a great job over several years at Everton, where's he's had very little money to spend on new players. He'd make a great choice for ManU. Plus, I'm hoping Jose Mourinho returns to Chelsea.

I've only ever known life under Ferguson, he's been like a 3rd grandfather.

Really don't like the idea of Moyes, I reckon he could keep our stability in the league, but he hasn't had any success in Europe. He has had Europe League and Champions league football, but nothing of note.

If Moyes does take over, his assistant better be one of our former greats, such as Ole, Giggs, Scholes, Cantona or Neville.

I'm hoping the timing is to lure Mourinho or Klopp. I'd be happy with Moyes but worried.

He also didn't have Man U's budget ...

I couldn't see an Italian, Spanish or Portuguese manager at Man U.
Moyes is a great coach, Scottish just like Sir Alex.

The announcement of Ferguson's retirement has prompted a frenzy of money being placed on the Everton manager to succeed the 71 year-old.
And Telegraph Sport understands that Moyes, whose contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season, has already been identified as Ferguson's successor and will be confirmed before United's next game, on Sunday, against Swansea.

Despite long-term speculation linking Jose Mourinho with the manager's job at Old Trafford in the event of Ferguson's retirement, the former Chelsea manager lacks support among the higher echelons of the United hierarchy.

Moyes's record at Everton since arriving from Preston North End in March 2002 lacks a trophy, or experience of Champions League football beyond the qualifying rounds, but the Scot's readiness to build teams and promote youth is understood to be central to United's decision to recruit the 50 year-old.

Ferguson's elevation to a position on the United board ensures that the two men will be in a regular contact at Old Trafford, but the pair's strong relationship, which saw Moyes offered the job as Ferguson's assistant in 1999-2000, is likely to prevent friction between the manager's office and the boardroom.

I like Moyes, I think he will be good for us in the league. If he comes, I hope he brings Baines and Fellaini with him.

I'd prefer Mourinho, just to give him a stab at Europe for a few years.

My choices in order would be:

1. Mourinho
2. Klopp
3. Moyes

I was just watching the post game show on FSC after the Chelsea/Spurs match, and the commentators were making it sound like it would definitely be Moyes who'd replace Fergie.

Yeah it certainly seems that way! If it is Moyes I'll be happy, just worried about Europe. I reckon he's the right man for the league, and he might acually get us the bloody FA cup back for the first time since new Wemberly (intentional) was built.

He's never had a large squad or a big budget and still built Everton into a very strong team. Not only that, with Moyes at the helm, we might get another 15-20 year reign, rather than 3-5 years then a chop and change.

Changing managers every few seasons--or even more frequently--is ridiculous. And yes, I'm a Chelsea fan.

It's a no brainer. Moyes.

United's board prefer to take money out of the club not put it in. Mourinho will cost anything up to $15 million to prize away from Madrid where he still has a year on his contract, plus he will need a minimum of $15 million a year salary for minimum of 3 years plus bonuses and will demand a transfer kitty of between $80 and $150 million.

Moyes on the other hand, will cost zero in compensation to Everton as out of contract in 6weeks, has proven he can run a club with the resources he is given, which will not be huge as would inherit the kind of squad most managers would dream of, and I am sure even if they doubled his Everton salary it would still be less than 20% of Mourinho's.

Moyes would also be the best at putting up with Fergie upstairs second guessing him for a couple of years.

David Moyes and Jose Mourinho are the bookies' favourites to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson.

But the bookies think Klopp, who has won the Bundesliga twice and has taken his team to this year's Champions League final, is more likely to succeed Ferguson than anyone from the Old Trafford crowd.
