This guy Jeff Bliss was a dropout. He decided that his education was important so he came back to school. The teacher he lashed out at apparently does nothing but sit behind her desk and hand out packets for the students to read/complete. No real interaction; no real teaching.

From what I read, right before the video starts and he was kicked out of class, he raised his hand and asked a question about the material, because he didn't understand it. The teacher allegedly told him to "stop bitching" and kicked him out of class. Then the video picks up.

There's already comments from teachers all over articles about this praising Jeff for speaking up about this "teacher."

I had a teacher in high school who did the same thing every week. Mon-Weds he stood in front of the class and read the chapter from the text book to us. Thursday he told us what notes to take for the test. Friday we took the test and could use your notes. There was no teach, not learning, just memorizing bullet points.

I was the easiest A ever, but the guy was a very shitty teacher.

On a side note he was also a huge perv. Her would always make the girls who wore short skirts sit in the middle row of the class so he could look up their skirts while he read. In my class this one really hot girl had a short skirt on one day and he was really leaning to try to get a look. Everyone knew what he was doing. She spread he legs and flashed him, asking if that was the view he was looking for. He literally fell to the floor he was so shocked. It was classic.

One of them used to put his hands on my neck and squeeze and say why aren't you working, I was scared to death, and I ended up getting straight A's in his classes.. Today a kids parents would sue a teacher for that, but still it worked back then.. And I ended up going back to be a teachers aid for him while I was in high school..

Another teacher of mine contacted my parents and arranged for me to stay through lunch breaks to make sure I learned Science 1 on 1 with her.. I went from getting D's to A's in Science, I absorbed the material better and showed more interest because of that..

I owe a lot to specific teachers that have come into my life... Any robot teacher should be fired, and replaced within 3 months of a school year if the students do not feel they are being taught.. Open up the system for people who actually give a damn..

He would rush for the door and they would say, "It looks really nice and shiny today."

I agree 100% I had some great teachers who taught me a lot had a very positive influence over my life. I also had some shitty teachers that were clearly just trying to cash a check and didn't care. Those that don't care aren't doing any good and need to go.

Just proves the point how lazy teachers are getting. Some schools around here it's absurd. A friend of mine said teachers at his school give students books to read during class so they can play games or hang out online.

I will be driving my daughter to my parents thirty miles away each morning, to avoid putting my little white babies in this situation. That was no doubt an inner city school district and this is what has become of them all. We love living in the city limits, but the school district leaves much to be desired.

I have heard plenty of stories of teachers just like this. Right here in my own city's School District. Unfortunately, this woman is probably tenured, represented by the Teacher's Union and will continue to be responsible for educating our kids.

Unfortunately, with NCLB, too many teachers are doing exactly what this kid is railing against as there is high pressure on the teachers as well as the school as a whole to demonstrate yearly improvement. As a result, teachers have been motivated to 'teach for the test' rather than foster the critical thinking skills and perspicacity in their students which would better serve them in life.
