How do I format a hard drive running Vista?

I have an old computer with Vista - it is fine for email and Facebook - but I cannot wipe the hard drive and re-install the operating system. Anyone know how to format c under Vista?

    I didn't think so...

You have the operating software CD? Boot from that and you should be able to format and install. Just like XP.

I am not sure what you are asking - If you just want to do a clean Vista install stick in the CD, reboot and it will give you the option of doing a reformat...

Download a boot disk from bootdisk.com, dos utilities, An Fdisk/Format GUI w/Mouse Support ScreenShot completely wipe the hard drive and will be ready for a fresh install.

What brand of laptop is it? Some laptops have a built-in factory restore feature that does exactly what you want to do, reinstall the OS (including drivers).

Google search the brand/model along with factory restore (or reset).

            Good luck.

vista has a system recovery option, where you can create a boot disk, then wipe without losing vista.. although I don't know anyone who'd wanna keep it, 7 is much better.
