Are we talking gun violence or suicide bombers? Either way, believe it or not, the homocide rate in Israel is still very low. However, it's the randomness of terrorism in Israel that makes it seem higher than it is. Here is a comparison of homocide rates, and as you'll see Israel is very low. In fact, one could make the argument that gun violence/terrorism would be much higher if Israelis were less armed:
1 INTERNATIONAL INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE TABLE The Table is based on: 1987 data from The Statistical Abstract of Israel; an article by Killias which gives averages for many countries for the years 19834 6 (Gun ownership and violent crime: The Swiss experience in international perspective, Security Journal 1990; 1: 169-74); and data on other nations from the latest year available in the U.N. Demographic Yearbook- l985 (published, 1987)- Figures from Killias are in bold face. Country Suicide Homicide TOTAL RUMANIA 66.2 n.a. 66.2 HUNGARY 45.9 n.a. 45.9 DENMARK 28.7 .7 29.4 AUSTRIA 26.9 1.5 28.4 FINLAND 24.4 2.86 27.2 FRANCE 21.8 4.36 26.16 SWITZERLAND 24.45 1.13 25.58 BELGIUM 23.15 1.85 25.00 W. GERMANY 20.37 1.48 21.85 JAPAN 20.3 .9 21.20 U.S. 12.2 7.59 19.79 CANADA 13.94 2.6 16.54 NORWAY 14.5 1.16 15.66 N. IRELAND 9.0 6.0 15.00 (Homicide rate does not include "political" homicides) AUSTRALIA 11.58 1.95 13.53 NEW ZEALAND 9.7 1.6 11.3 ENGLAND/WALES 8.61 .67 9.28 (Homicide rate does not include "political" homicides) ISRAEL 8.00 1.00 9.00 (Homicide rate does not include "political" homicides) 12. In simple words, the "gun density" in Israel is very high. The laws are designed not to prevent gun ownership and carrying by the law-abiding, but to bring these phenomena under the scrutiny of the public authorities. The philosophy of gun Control in Israel is that, subject to police oversight, the public can be trusted with firearms; indeed, we can distribute many weapons to authorized people. And, therefore, guns are, by comparison to the U.S., very available. Quote:

correct....Israeli on Israeli violence is practically non-existent.

BV - the top right .22 pump is a Winchester 61 right? Those, as you may know, have become collectors items and can be worth quite a few bucks if in good condition. Nice collection, esp the .25 from WW2!

More like Palestinians trying to blow themselves and innocent Israeli civilians up. For the most part, the IDF shoots rubber bullets at those rock yielding palestinians. They excercise more restraint than any other military in the same situation. How do you think the government of Jordan would react if they were throwing rocks at their military?? They'd probably slaughter them just like the last time they tried that. What was 1972 when the PLO tried to overthrow the Jordanian government, so the Jordians killed 3 thousand Palestinians over 3 days. But, of course, you never hear about that.

The 2nd from teh bottom a .243? I have two of those guns that i have never shot. Like teh AR, have an Olympic Arms one with a 1" comp. s.s. target barrel, & teh free floating alum. hand guard, bi pod & 5-12x 50 leopold scope, Cant fucken miss with that thing. |

It shows it too, lol It's an old Herrington & Richardson 20 gauge. AR-15's (.223 cal) are cool. I like them all, especially those that shoot NATO ammunition. ie: 9mm, 45acp, .223, .308, 30-06, etc. You can get some good deals on bulk ammunition in those calibers. Cheap to shoot! |

Hehehe - Are you expecting company ala Scarface? Damn, I say we are good to go with this arsenal. Which would you go for first? |

When the AR-10 is complete...I will post a pic of it. Waiting on the upper receiver to be finished and delivered. .308 and VERY dialed in. :ak47: |

Its all about the gauge, cant beat a shotgun for aroudn the house.

The fact that people have guns doesn't increase violence all by itself. 90% of all crime is due to people with drug addictions, not because people own guns.
|
Does this make me bad? :angel

I don't about that. I'd say most crimes committed with guns have something to do with drugs (gangs fighting over territory), but I don't think it's accurate to say 90% of all crime is due to people with drug addictions. What is your source?

Two violent crimes with a gun and you go to jail for life. No parole.
Now that would be nice. If we actually punished the losers who commit crimes with guns that would make a little more sense than John robs Bob with a gun, so now Bill the hunter isn't allowed to own a gun. |
Amen.
Or if you commit one crime with a gun you go to jail for 15 - 20 no parole. Make commiting a crime with a gun utterly unattractive. Quote:
