for me, none of them, Grace Slick (by Jefferson Airplane days) and Janis being the closest ones, but based on my personal musical taste, attitude and rebel spirit, I'd go with Patti Smith, Blondie and Siouxsie. Yeah, N Wilson was kick ass. She was hot looking and a great guitar player, too. I read that people used to ask if her guitar was plugged in - cuz they thought she was just holding it to look cute. The truth is, she can man handle a guitar.
I saw Joan playing about 10-15 years ago. I was shocked that she was totally bald, stomping around the stage in combat boots & a wife beater, totally dyked out. I missed the cool Joan from the 70s with her shiny black hair and denim jacket. But whatever, she sounded great - she was never a great singer, IMO, but she rocked out and commanded the stage.

I have a hilarious JJ story, which is way to long to post here...but summing it up in a short version - my GF at the time, was all weirded out about me having to hang (working with) JJ at the time for 3 days.
Finally got over it, and a month later JJ opened for the Police and I had front row seats for it. Needless to say, after JJ sang "Do You Wanna Touch Me..." pretty much directly at me, my GF was pissed off again! LOL!

well, in that case Stevie Nicks isn't rock either. And let's face it, Debbie was 10x the rocker Stevie Nicks and Grace Slick were.
To me, rock is an attitude rather than a music style, and other than Janis, all of them were "cheesy rock" or AOR, at least at some point of their careers. For example, The Runaways were real rockers. Joan Jett and Lita Ford were cheesy AOR. Just my humble opinion, of course. That's why I'd take Patti, Debbie, Siouxsie (and you can add Mo Tucker, Wendy O, Exene Cervenka and someone I forgot: Chrissie Hynde!): sheer attitude, less posse, breaking stereotypes and being themselves rather than a marketing developed image. Under this light, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez and Kate Bush were more "rocker" than, say, Pat Benatar
Anyway, it's pretty surprising there are so few chicks in rock from those years, I really thought there were more.
PS: And I'll add a little known band from early 70s that was amazing: Fanny. Thread wouldn't be complete without mentioning a few great Canadian rocker chicks...Lee Aaron, Headpins (Darby Mills) and Toronto (Holly Woods).
Saw Headpins and Toronto several times at Tony's Rock 'n Roll East (in Toronto) back in the day.
