Let me guess - the gun nut board you post on has it's panties in a bunch over this but no one bothered to read the article or the link to the school dress code.

Nothing says violence like an assault rifle, and once can only imagine four months of Sandy Hook how a grade school might not be too keen on this. Even more so with it being an AR15.

LOL your mind is gone.

I see an AR-15 and I think Military something to be proud of for the USA. Yes even on Children, and the RIGHT to wear it.

More violence is from handguns than an AR-15 heck I bet it doesn't even measure on a chart.

From the owner of an AR-15 who doesn't want his neighbors owning one for no real reason . Sure sounds like a dictator to me. Do as I want not as I do.

Seems to me you are more scared of Legal ownership of your neighbors just because he has multiple weapons just in case, than the criminals...

Just when I thought you couldn't be more of a Troll....

It's a stand on the 2nd amendment, kids should be as passionate about the constitution as this kid.

Yeah if the Shirt will "cause" or "say" Violence, Umm Have they seen TV or Video games these days... HAHA

I'm not scared of anything. Ever.

I support the 2nd amendment; I have the same weapon that was on his shirt. However, I believe in common sense. If I send my kid to school with a shirt that says "I like boobies" my kid is going to be sent home. Anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid. Schools have a zero tolerance policy on weapons, and wearing a t-shirt with an assault rifle on it is clearly against that policy.

Pretty fucked up when you can't wear a shirt that has a constitutional meaning to it

http://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/Gz...0422_wmain.jpg

Reminds me of those kids that got kicked off campus for wearing red white and blue shirts during cinco de mayo

You can't wear clothes with guns, any other weapons or drugs on them either to school.

No tolerance and rightfully so.

Funny you pick that, because they do wear those I Love Boobies shirts to School, No Problem. They wear them to support Breast Cancer, and it is a freedom of speech.

Now I do agree with dress codes, But also you need to look Back at History. Use to take toy guns to school, wear all military stuff, a lot less violence.

Why Stop at Schools? If a Shirt is going to have some magical influence at school, what about video games. What about learning about the Wars? So on so on.

It is the pussification of Political correct BS that is making this country into what is is becoming.

Clothing and accessories that display profanity, violence, discriminatory messages or sexually suggestive phrases are not to be worn at school or school functions.

They would be implying this displays violence....it all depends on their view....no where in the school code does it mention firearms of any kind....alcohol...yes...drugs...yes.....firearms.. .no.

and if a teacher told me to do something i didn't believe in i would tell them to get fucked also....a teachers job is to fucking TEACH not impose their political views.....

It's unreal how our society is.

When I was a kid in high school in the late 1970's I wore shirts with pot leaves on them, a marlboro shirt, and I also had a budweiser shirt with a big can of beer on it.

It was something called "freedom of expression" and was a part of growing up.

After reading all those "rules" on how students can dress, it seems to me that instead of grooming free thinkers like we used to do in school...we are now preparing young adults to be subordinated to AUTHORITY at all times.

And from reading many of the responses here on GFY...it looks like it's working.

Tom_PM 04-25-2013 08:26 AM

So some conspiracy theorist at the school claims the teacher was not acting like an adult and caused the problem means that it was the t-shirt. I totally get it because it makes irrefutable sense. Nonsense.

and girls should be able to wear bikinis to class right? would you be ok with your daughter doing that? freedom of expression is great but in school it should be done via creative methods rather than who can wear the most offensive shirt. i was in highschool in the 90's and got in trouble for a shirt that said 'mopar kicks ass'. i thought it was dumb but they can't pick and choose what is ok and what isn't. they can't not allow the kid wearing the shirt that says 'i am a teacher killing motherfucker' but allow one that just says 'ass' because its not *that* bad.

It really is a school by school thing. I graduated in '95. So, I was in school through the 80's and 90's and I can clearly remember kids being sent home to change out of Red Hot Chili Peppers t-shirts because the logo included sperm.

I remember kids being made to turn Spuds Mckenzie shirts inside out because it was a booze advertisement (aimed at kids no less).

The lapse in 'freedom of expression' is covered under the same rules that allow locker searches. While in school the school administration acts as parent.

I have a kid in high school now. And I can't believe that they do locker searches. It blows my mind.

When I was in high school we had to bring our own locks for our lockers. Now they are not ALLOWED to do that!!! It used to be a requirement. But now the govt. gives them a lock that the school officials have the master key to!!!

Funny thing is, when I was a kid in school...there were guns in every guys pickup truck gun rack in the school parking lot (knowledge and respect of guns), kids were allowed to pretty much wear whatever we wanted (and learned from social approval or disapproval from other kids what worked), we had privacy in our school lockers AND a lot of freedom of speech (I ran an "underground" comedy newspaper that belittled the principal and teachers in a very derogatory manner...the principal would call me to his office and even though he was pissed, all he could do was give me a good talking to).

We weren't coddled and controlled. And guess what? All these school shootings didn't happen, kids grew up healthy as they do now, when we turned 18 we could go to a bar and get a drink (though most of us already had fake ID's by the time we were 16).

Todays kids are like deers in the headlights when they finally cut the umbilical cord from mommy and daddy and the nanny state (usually in their 30's), and don't have a clue. :(

Tom_PM 04-25-2013 11:30 AM

The teacher asked him to turn his tshirt inside out and the kid refused. The teacher yelled at him to do it and the kid still refused, saying it was his first amendment right. Give me a break. This was a punk kid who was trying to do the equivalent of tell the cop that the law is wrong. Such a simple case really. A "Fuck the Police" tshirt might be a first amendment statement too, but they're not going to allow you to wear it in school.

Schools have rules these days that we didn't when we were kids. Deal with it.

Don't like it? Then homeschool your precious darlings and they can wear any damn shirt they want and everyone can quit bitching about rights.

Patriotism is a form of pride, having pride in a countries constitution is not a form of brain washing, it's a declaration of rights.

While my daughter believes in the same things I do, she is not now nor has ever been a drone. She has however been just like me in thinking that our constitution is being attacked by people that are no where near the intelligence of those that wrote it.

She is a Vegetarian, she listens to AC/DC, she is an artist, she is a Veteran, she is a college student that is pre-med, she has a carry permit and hits harder than most men.

She is wholly a good person and her formative years were during the same years this young kid is going thru. You have to stand for what you believe in!

It says that no evidence of a riot was there, that kids cheered, but sat right back down when told to. That the whole thing started because of a t shirt
