Yes, totally inconceivable that there would be added, highly trained, well prepared security hired at an international event where 10's of 1000's would be packed into the streets, that's highly vulnerable to terrorist attack. I don't know if they did it or not. However...
1) Where is the video of the police chase and them throwing bombs at the police? EVERY police car in the USA has dash cams now. Until such a video surfaces, there is no proof unless you were there and saw it with your own eyes. The police also can't seem to get their stories together on what happened. Some say a bomb went off, some say it didn't. The same for eye witnesses in the neighbor hood who seem / heard it. A pressure cooker bomb isn't something that slips by so fast and quietly that you're not sure if you saw it explode or not.
2) Where is the actual video of both brothers putting the bombs down? There is no shortage of images with them walking with the bags, there is even a video. But without the bags, there is ONE image that isn't really conclusive as it only shows one side, yet his arm is in a carry position. This is not enough proof to convict someone of such a crime.
Of course the brother may admit he did it, be it a forced admission or not like they do with the prisoners in Gitmo, but there isn't solid proof in either direction. There is plenty of evidence to make them suspects, but I've yet to see solid proof of anything. We have select images and eye witness accounts from various people that don't all match up. That's it. There must be shots of both them somewhere, clear shots, walking away without the backpacks. Without those, I simply can't believe what the government or media says for the sake of wanting it to be true. Both have a long record of lying and distorting the truth
Solid proof isn't too much to ask for if you're supposed to support a lynching.Comment

Also remember, they didn't leave town after the bombing. So they didn't run until they were chased and their faces shown on TV as being wanted.

the police chase was brief, a watertown local security squad car came across the brothers, who were in separate vehicles, they almost immediately stopped and began the shootout, only another handful of cops showed up, current reports say 6, then it was over. in the mean time, there are many many tweets and social network comments from people that live on that block that write about bomb(s) going off right out their window.
there is video of the younger brother setting the bag down, according to current news sources, it has not been released, i believe because it is actual evidence.Comment

The release of the pictures, however, meant a full identification was inevitable ? and rapid. High school friends of Dzhokhar immediately recognised him as ?White Hat? and began phoning the FBI hotline.
Knowing they would soon be arrested at their home in Cambridge, the site of Harvard University, or else on Dzhokhar?s University of Massachusetts campus an hour south at Dartmouth, the brothers seem to have decided to break cover.
With no apparent escape plan, they must have hoped to die in a blaze of glory, taking a few more people with them. The precise sequence of events remains unclear but within the space of two hours beginning just before midnight the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) camps and nearby Watertown became a war zone.
Shortly before midnight, less than seven hours after the photographs had been released, a man in his twenties was driving his black Mercedes-Benz on the campus of when the brothers held him up at gunpoint and jumped in. He was forced to drive to ATM machines and take out cash.
Police say that around then same time officers investigating an unconnected robbery at a nearby 7-Eleven found footage of Dzohkhar on the CCTV. At around the same time, Sean Collier, 26, an MIT police officer, was shot multiple times by the brothers as he sat in his cruiser - a senior officer later described it as a "savage assassination".
Now on full alert, the police began tracking the Mercedes via a GPS system in the car. On Memorial Drive, 1½ miles from where they had killed Collier, the brothers pushed their hostage out of his vehicle and headed to Watertown.
The man ran into a Shell petrol station screaming: ?Call the police! Call the police! These people are trying to kill me!? He was so agitated the cashier thought he was drunk.
Why the brothers spared the man?s life is unclear ? not least because, as he later told the FBI, they had boasted to him of carrying out the bombings.
At 12.40am, 15 minutes after the carjacking victim ran into the petrol station, Stephen McAlpin and his wife, Emily, were in bed when they heard gunfire outside their flat at 40 Laurel Street. The young couple threw themselves on the floor and called 911.
As the gunfire got closer and was accompanied by explosions, a bullet came through the wall, lodging itself in their television set. Outside the brothers were flinging grenades and shooting at the police, injuring several, one of them critically.
The McAlpins crawled into their kitchen and were taking shelter under the table with their dog Taco. ?I didn?t know if we were going to make it out of there,? McAlpin said.

The brothers were outside the Mercedes as they challenged the police. Tamerlan was wearing a suicide bomber?s belt but did not have time to detonate it. Hit by several bullets, he crumpled to the ground.
Dzhokhar jumped back into the car, put it into reverse and backed over his brother as he sped off. Tamerlan died in hospital after being wheeled into the operating room in handcuffs.
With officers tending to their wounded comrades and unable to put up a cordon, Dzhokhar abandoned the car and disappeared on foot, probably creeping through gardens until he found refuge in Henneberry?s boat.

As officers went door to door in Watertown, the subway closed down, buses and taxis were suspended and an eerie silence descended over the streets. A Red Sox game was postponed, as was a Symphony Hall concert.
By 6pm Dzhokhar had not been found and an air of gloom began to envelop the area. ?We cannot continue to lock down an entire city or an entire state,? Patrick admitted. Ed Davis, the Boston police commissioner, conceded that ?we don't know where he went?.
