I can access Hotmail, but I've had a lot of emails bounced back from them recently.

Microsoft layed the smackdown on the Hotmail spam... incoming & outgoing. The glory days of spam are over.

That would explain why all 350 Million emails I sent out in the past few days all bounced. What a mess...

My mail server responded with a surprisingly human touch:

I was unable to contact the mail server at "mx1.hotmail.com". Connection refused. I have tried to deliver this message 12 times without success. I give up.

Thanks. I am glad it is not just us. I think they are having a problem. I have hundreds of returned emails from the past 48 hours.

Okay, if they are cracking down on spam, why have I gotten more spam in the past 48 hours than I did all last week?

Yes Hotmail is having a problem. I sent a single email reply to a hotmail person that's coming back as 'account not found'. Also last night about 500 hotmail email addys were hard-bounced off my opt-in list.

Makes sense and sounds painfully familiar
